Cryo-EM structure of the tissue factor/factor VIIa complex with a factor X mimetic reveals a novel allosteric mechanism Key PointsXK1 interacts with TF/FVIIa via the FVIIa protease domain and TF exosite, with much of the FX light chain making no contact with TF/FVIIa.A novel

Delighted that our cryo-EM structure of the enzyme that triggers blood clotting (TF/FVIIa) was featured on the cover of Blood, revealing a new explanation for TF encryption! Josepha Sezdro worked closely with Amanda Photenhauer in Melanie Ohi's lab to solve this structure.

Thanks! Josepha Sedzro in my group will be giving a talk at 3 PM on Thursday (OC 67) on a beautiful & fascinating cryo-EM structure of TF/FVIIa, the membrane-bound enzyme that triggers blood clotting. It reveals a new allosteric mechanism that regulates cell-surface clotting activity. Cool stuff!
