She’s ours, mwahahahaha (Shirlington is ours, too (although you can keep the Quaker side of the circle; that thing is a giant accident waiting to happen (which did happen to my husband)))

Mockingbirds are assholes also because they will dive-bomb you and your pets if they have a nest nearby. We had one in our holly tree in front of our house and that one summer they’d actually peck at the dog and swoop at our heads (and at all passers-by).

What you see is the clear warm light of April. And it means that we can begin a whole new year together, Toad.

I guarantee it’s the same resident who also harasses the ACS members for our Tuesday night choir practices. We’ve had to send out illustrated maps of where to park and not park because the resident made a huge stink with the church. This has been going on for years and years. Ugh.

There is a lot of discourse about the White House Correspondents Association dinner coming up. As a grad student recipient of a WHCA scholarship, I want to remind everyone that a big goal of the dinner is to raise funds for said scholarships. Celebrity and politics have clouded this intent.

Also, if you see something but can’t get here today, I can hold onto it for you. I’m good like that.

Alexandria/Arlington friends with little kiddos! I have some free boxes out today with some nice things (especially for Mickey fans). If you’re interested in anything, message me and I can send you our address.

(Yes Alexandrians, you’ll have to cross the border but I promise Arlington won’t bite.)

I wore my winter rain coat to walk the dog today and it was so cozy. Just think of it like a brief trip to the Pacific Northwest. 🌲🌧️

We use A Lot of Mugs in my Revels shows, and we’re always singing and sloshing them around. We get stage direction to remember that they’re supposed to be full, but everyone forgets when we get rowdy in song and the air-beer just goes flying. It’s basically tradition now.

People ask me all the time for my favorite Onion headline, and there are like 200 of them, but my favorite recent print headline is easily this:

I was considering them for my next pair of work flats, but yeah, not now.

House cleaners. Lawn care/landscaping. Babysitting once a month.

Why does this list feel like general life-care and not luxury?

Behold, my magnet collection in June 2024. I took this just before I packed up my desk. I wanted to remember it fully; the magnets now live in a box.

I haven’t read this yet but I feel like I am the target demographic. I had a giant collection of magnets at my desk from every new city I visited on my travels when I worked for the union. I could tell you every project I worked on for each magnet.

So many newly-planted trees are going to die if they don’t get a lot of water from YOU, their neighbors, THIS WEEK.

We gotta care about the future. Water all the trees you can, now.

Cleaning can be so cathartic. I am so, so sorry for your loss. But also, glad you were able to make it there in time. Hugs, friend. 💗

Okay now I want to go back to Montreal just to try all their bagels. We only went to one shop. What a great city.

I feel like there, it would be done in a little less of a gauche way. The bagel stuck in the container like ice cream feels… very American.
