I've dabbled in rock tumbling using a National Geographic tumbler--which is a cheap first option, but it's hard to get a good polish out of it without bruising the rocks. I can get some rocks shiny with it (with bruised corners). My second ever batch had some shine. Harder rocks get shiny easier.

This looks like a Western Tiger Swallowtail to me, based on the color and the stripe pattern. But I'm definitely not a butterfly expert, so I could be wrong!

This is a study of a mountain lion I drew with a brown Copic marker and a uniball gel pen on a yellow sticky note.

Copic markers had a promotion for a $1 random Sketch marker, so I decided to give it a go—I got a brown color called “Chamois.”

I’ve been playing Pokémon Crystal on my 3DS lately, and I decided to try to breed a shiny Eevee. After about two weeks of casually hatching eggs in the evenings, I was starting to think I was doing something wrong. But last night I had two shiny Eevee hatch back-to-back!

I can now share the full artwork I created for LostDex: A Beta Pokémon Fanzine! My artwork depicts beta Espeon and beta Leafeon for the beta Eeveelutions page of the zine. Both Espeon and Leafeon are inspired by sprites that appeared in a demo (from before the release of Gold and Silver).

Here’s another of my lit-up pumpkin carvings from a previous Halloween. This time it’s a griffon vulture design that I carved in 2014!

It’s October, which means I’m thinking about Halloween pumpkin carvings! It has become a kind of tradition that I design and carve one pumpkin per year for Halloween. Here’s a lit-up picture of one of my favorite pumpkins from a previous year, a witchy fox I carved in 2019.

A box of six Krispy Kreme doughnuts with three normal ones and three decorated with a Scooby Doo theme. One has a candy piece of Scooby on it with a pumpkin on his head, another has a candy piece with the Mystery Machine on it.

I’m having Scooby Doo doughnuts on Friday the 13th!  They’re both yummy and thematically satisfying.
