NEW: I've been shocked by some of the numbers I've been seeing on behind-the-meter power plants for data centers, so I did a little math.
less than a dozen gas plants being built to power data centers for big tech companies could emit a maximum of nearly 130 million tons of CO2e each year (!)
If so, then aren't superheroes underdogs simply because their goals are beyond even the ability of superpowers to achieve (ie systemic change, ultimate good) bc those goals can't be enforced unilaterally, even w the best intentions? They can only enforce specific changes (ie defeating a villain).
They all seem to be thick layer cakes of loathsome, but this guy has even fewer excuses than most for what he's become.

Last night, after an hours-long public hearing, Monterey Park became the first city in California to pass an ordinance permanently banning data centers.
The city council voted unanimously to declare data centers a public nuisance, and to "prohibit all data centers within city limits."
