Yes, come to the talk! And, before the talk, come see 2 of BPL Special Collections’ copies of David Walker’s Appeal, including one published by Henry Highland Garnet, currently in an exhibition at BPL’s Leventhal Map & Education Center!

Not the dreaded white gloves! 😭🫠☠️
view of salt water inlet from shore, with land across water in the whole view. There are pine trees on all the land. The sky is moody with heavy grey clouds broken by blue spots, and they’re reflected in the water.
Fled marathon chaos at home for points further north. Moody weather today. Very cold and windy, and the sky keeps dropping frozen … stuff (“graupel” maybe?). Grateful to have access to a nice borrowed landing spot.
This feels like a good way to celebrate National Library Week 😆📚

I found it!
Maine license plate on a front bumper of a very shiny black Audi. The plate reads “DORSIA”.
Another fun Maine vanity license plate to add to my collection. It was on a souped-up and blacked out Audi wagon. I HOPE they’re in on the joke?
Foot-worn path across small green park with a little copse of birch trees. Beyond the path, across the street, is a large hotel.
Love me a solid desire path.
Please do! We’ve been regularly adding to our medieval mss collection, too, in case you want an extra reason to visit. (Also viewable in that airtable link, if you close the embiggened Livre de prieres window.)
Not sure if this link will work, but a few pics here in our recent acqs gallery. It has ridonk doublures and blue and gold silk endleaves. airtable.com/appANXv5XbsU...
Boston Public Library also holds one, and isn’t too far from home!
Small yellow and black variegated bird feather in the gutter of a book.
A feather in the opening of an incunable. Would be very interested to know what bird this came from.
They Goldfingered (and multiplied) Patience and Fortitude?
A notebook on a wooden tray with the cover text: "HOPE DOESN'T FIND US. WE MAKE HOPE THROUGH ACTION & STRUGGLE.
@blackbirdletterpress.com and I have partnered again on a notebook. 50% of proceeds will go to the Chicago Freedom School. I think that the notebook turned out beautifully. Limited number of copies available. www.blackbirdletterpress.com/limited-edit...
The NYPL is hiring two metadata specialists! Not only do you have the opportunity to work for one of the world’s great libraries, you also get to collaborate with the ✨ @infopetal.bsky.social!
Just a sea of interestingly-dressed people…
The sun came out, the red sox home opener just ended, and anime boston is starting. The people watching in back bay is *spectacular* right now.
A Waymo self driving car is parked next to the protected bike lane on Brattle St in Cambridge MA. A male turkey is standing in the street next to it, aggressively displaying its tail feathers.
The fight we’ve been waiting for, the Battle of Brattle: Waymo vs. Cambridge turkey.

!!! I’m sorry — that’s frustrating! We’d be lost without it, because it’s where our scanned card catalogs are hosted.
Internet Archive has the original EEBO microfilms online, which aren’t perfect but can be incredibly helpful when you don’t have other access. archive.org/details/bim_...

The lesson here is 1) don't cut up manuscripts because you will lose, among other things, important provenance info like colophons, and 2) don't just blindly trust inherited metadata.
An excellent thread …
a one page rpg as indicated above. it's an absolute wall of text, and I feel terrible and extremely guilty but I honestly don't think there's any way to translate it into this box.
alright its time for another one page rpg, so here is Gay Hockey Dragon Sex Coffee Shop Romantic Sportsball Cozy Dark Fantasy which I feel covers all my bases pretty neatly
Why not toss in The Wire just to round it out? :)
I think I’m closer to Henry, age-wise…
Just started a rewatch of The Americans because apparently I’m not getting enough bleak in my life already, or something.
Thank you for this glorious feed.
What a delightful label!
