Real nice Xmas present for all the burnt-out editors in our industry who work our arses off for little money and are constantly at risk of redundancy if we don't perform to impossible standards. God forbid we're human and have a bad year. No shade on the excellent editors (at least the ones that aren't Tories and/or bullies) selected but come the fuck on. Gonna rank the bookseller journalists based on the number of press releases they rehash and churn out a year, see how they like it
Well said, this person. For the few 'winners', everyone else becomes a 'loser', despite the fact that the criteria used don't make sense for every book and take no account of the wildly differing circumstances - person power, pr capacity, marketing budgets, rights deals and so much more…
