This is just so cool. A Roman-era mummy recently excavated in Egypt contained a fragment of papyrus with a section of the Iliad.

Do I know any chemistry people on here from Spain (preferably near Madrid)?
I have a rising senior here at AU (Spanish citizen) going back home to Madrid this summer and is looking for any lab work opportunities.
Thanks!

A four panel photo series featuring a student wearing a white polo shirt with a card on a lanyard and a ruled notebook and pen. Panel 1: Student holds hand to head in deep concentration. Watch is visible on wrist, other students in background. Panel 2: (close-up) Student has written 18-9 in the standard top and bottom notation with a line underneath. Panel 3: (close-up) Student has crossed out the tens column on 18, and moved the 1 above and next to the 8, a standard simplification move. Panel 4: Student appears to have realized that this hasn't simplified the problem, and just rewritten the same number. This image was stolen from the Internet. I think it was originally a tweet.
This is what every paper towel on my lab bench ends up looking like. Once the numbers are on the paper, I can't be responsible for what happens to them. They're on a magical journey between grams, moles and liters.

Well, I finally broke down and made hardcover versions of the Cairn 2e Warden's Guide. It looks pretty good! You can get it from Lulu right now, or you can wait for it to show up on DTRPG.

They’re also not radiation hardened, so we know there’s a decent chance that they could fail just due to being in the space environment. It’s a balance between cost, capability, and risk.
Reminder; we all have 8 days left to buy our Gorilla suits! Don't wait 'til the last minute!!

"You think it frivolous?"
"No. But to grand it I must send you back to the child you were, with no adult memories."
"Would my life change?"
"You ask that every time."
This little tabletop hockey simulator is so clever. I'd love to play it.

I was so lucky to have the MOST supportive school administrators when I started teaching. I think about those days a lot. #iTeachChemistry #iTeachPhysics #STEMeducation
I always feel like my non-teacher friends must think I'm crazy at times. I know I'm not, but it is a real rollercoaster at times.

Sir James Dewar, Scottish chemist, would be nominated for the Nobel 8 times, but you probably know him for his most famous invention, which never made him a penny, developed to hold ultra-cold liquified gases.
You probably own a "Dewar vessel," but you know it as a Thermos™.
Let's talk about it.
Just published my 900th Physics video on Youtube! I hope you have found them useful 🙂

I agree! I did just last month and I haven't regretted it in the slightest.
Not sure if they're all lesser known, but my go to currently are:
* @3d6downtheline.com
* @spoutlore.bsky.social
* Actual Play on YouTube with @juddthelibrarian.bsky.social , Sean Nittner, @madjay.bsky.social, and more
All VERY different but great.
Oh goodness, I had no idea he was on here! 😄
Could we destroy some of the sample? Is that enough evidence? You tell me, was always his reply. Rarely had I been asked to think like that in college. I mean, I thought a lot in college, but this felt different. @hellmanmd.bsky.social
Dr. Raymond, junior year, chem undergrad. 1st day of lab asked us to prove that the metal he had was or was not copper. No instructions. At first we were kind of insulted by this "1st year" question, but then we were tripping over ourselves thinking of new ways to do it.
