Anybody else desperately trying to escape from this fascist nightmare by watching a thirty-year old cartoon featuring Star Trek actors hamming it up as characters from myth and legend?

KIRKPATRICK COMMENTS ON LUNA'S REQUEST FOR 46 UAP VIDEOS
A 🧵
I asked former AARO Director Sean Kirkpatrick some questions about Rep. Anna Paulina Luna's 3-31-26 letter to Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth, requesting 46 specific UAP-related videos. Kirkpatrick's complete verbatim response appears below.
Project Hail Mary is another problematic entry in the sci-fi subgenre of proto-fascist Randian competence porn.
A group of technocrats wielding unchecked power to combat an existential threat is a longtime fever dream of the ostensibly libertarian tech-bro, perversely celebrating authoritarianism.
I couldn't get through "The Creator."
It makes a tepid argument for the rights of AI, sidestepping every actual issue in the search for an emotional lever to manipulate the audience.
He LITERALLY started multiple illegal wars in order to distract from his history of pedophilia.
And the list keeps going...
What more does it take, conservatives?
WHAT MORE DOES IT FUCKING TAKE?
He killed hundreds of schoolchildren in reckless bombings.
He heaped sexist abuse on female journalists.
He KEEPS threatening to invade our closest allies.
He kidnapped the leader of nearby country.
He's actively destroying the most important international alliance of the last century.
He defunded vital research.
He gutted the NOAA and NWS, eroding our ability to predict tornadoes and hurricanes.
He withdrew from the World Health Organization and left us vulnerable to another pandemic.
He fired longtime federal employees for no purpose and left vital positions empty.
He's selling pardons to criminals.
He left our national parks unprotected.
He revoked the EPA's power to regulate greenhouse gases.
He demolished half the White House.
He's weaponizing the FCC to control the media.
He's threatening federal and state officials with imprisonment for defying him.
He's sending secret police to kidnap and detain undesirables.
He's using federal law enforcement to punish his perceived enemies on a whim.
He's building concentration camps across the country.
He's removing monuments to American heroes.
He's closing important cultural institutions.
Just fourteen months into this catastrophic term:
He's turning the oval office into a bespoke corruption boutique.
He's sending armed goons to undermine our elections.
He's giving AI the authority to kill without human intervention.
He's publicly celebrating the deaths of Americans.
Concerned Parents:
The school board has elected to begin the process of renaming "This Monster Raped Kids Elementary" and has hired an outside consultant to investigate alternatives more in keeping with our community's values.
We hope to share a preliminary report within eighteen months.
Clip from facebook post in which Susan McCasland describes her husband's association with the UFO community.
"Neil does not have any special knowledge about the ET bodies and debris from the Roswell crash stored at Wright-Patt."
- Susan McCasland Wilkerson, assuring the public her husband's disappearance isn't UFO-related

Google AI fumbles the meaning of "I'll take my answer off the air"
Once again, AI -- that I didn't ask for -- is confidently giving me false information.
What happens when the question has life or death consequences?
("I'll take my answer off the air" actually means the caller to a radio show is going to hang up before the host answers their question.)
Is this AI?
This is a fascinating paper about authority figures in UFO discourse.
"The implication is that the researched discourse promotes distrust of authorities—both traditional scientists and governmental bodies."

And an archived version of Shermer's opinion piece, if you're curious:

Ugh. Looks like the Washington Post is platforming Michael Shermer.
Every few years this creep makes inane comments about UFOs to drum up attention to whatever project he's currently flogging.
But the real story is the many allegations of his sexual harassment.

For sale: 119th congress, never legislated.
"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus and you've got to make it stop!"
It can be hard to cope with alienation in an increasingly digital, polarized society.
But I take solace in the fact that the future A.I.s poised to govern our lives will--in some small part--be trained on my own ill-considered contributions to social media.
Years ago, I saw a manhole cover shoot thirty feet into the air and land in one of few empty spots in a crowded intersection.
Everyone froze, processing this brush with disaster. But only for a moment.
Even after an explosion revealed the violent pressure beneath us, we just went about our day.
It’s a big, big stretch to say these are “far above the horizon”.
Even after the camera operator zoomed in, the UFO is in the same frame as objects on the ground (around 1:45-1:50) in the video.
The witness says they “lost it behind a streetlight,” so again, clearly not far above the horizon.
I sure hope I’m wrong, but I doubt the reprieve for SF is going to extend to Oakland and Berkeley.
Stay safe, East Bay.
You’re making a good point, but I would frame it in a different way:
Did entertainers who objected to McCarthyism marginalize themselves?
They sacrificed a platform that they might have used for good, just to avoid being part of a destructive force.
And it was the right thing to do.
"People who perceive ChatGPT as intelligent, or capable of perceiving reality and forming relationships with humans, may not understand that it is essentially a machine that predicts the next word in a sentence."
