There are a few of us left that will always (or only) buy the hardcover if a book was ever published in hardcover.

And for some it's gut wrenching when a 1000-page book like Schattenfroh by Michael Lentz is only released in trade.

Sidenote: I had to confirm the spelling of Swearengen - apparently he never settled on one spelling - and found this highly amusing.

I haven't listened to the podcast yet, but EXHUMA is an exceptional film amongst the exceptional horror/alt-history/folk-horror/fantasy/supernatutural/thriller mixed genre that South Korea does far better than anyone.

Definitely one for those of us looking for more from our films.

One great pleasure of living in the hinterlands and MAGA-land is being at the vet and watching the face of Jedidiah Ephram Myron Johnson IV, Jr. when they call for his cat - "My WIFE'S cat," as I heard him state multiple times - and the cat’s name is (say it with me) Miss Meow Meow.

As a former resident of her one-term congressional district, I can say that any day Lori Chavez-Deremer is unemployed is a great day for America.

Fun fact:

When the world's most heinous people - Marjorie, Tucker, Candace, Alex - turn on DJT, you *can* just sit back with a cold one and let them spew without screeching about no forgiveness.

It's not about you. It's about letting MAGA tear itself apart.

The Devil himself can do God's work.

All of this AND...

Tucker, please keep talking - never stop telling your mutuals how evil DJT is, never stop talking about how much you hate DJT, never stop showing his base that even the most dedicated ass-licker can walk away with both shame and resolve.

...to be successful Congressional republicans would have to be on board. The only way to accomplish that feat is to equate continued support of DJT with red state voters and their kids starving.

I think that's a game of thrones too risky for them.

I expect a stroke or heart attack mid-Nov.

...by Vance would completely derail him with MAGA voters.

For them to pull off the 25th and come out the winners, DJT would have to cause - be unequivocally blamed for - an abrupt economic catastrophe, not this slow drip. Orchestrating that after midterms is a *possible* plan of action, but...

Agreed. Vance is already hugely underwater.

DJT's death or incapacitation after midterms serves them all best. I don't doubt they will remove him after the midterms, whatever the means, but Vance has to be in position to play the role of savior for it to work. Even a hint of perceived betrayal...

If any member of this administration was slightly, actually concerned with national security, their priority would be on food supply and healthcare rather than just rallying the christian base for votes with a war against a majority Muslim country while feigning strength with bluster and hubris.

Accomplishing that risks political suicide and still has the hurdle of 2/3 of Congress when DJT challenges removal. All those Republicans required to vote for removal also face that risk.

DJT's demise - natural or otherwise - still seems more likely to me and could paint Vance as savior and heir.

I would change self-proclaimed to cosplaying, but absolutely.

While DJT is useful no one in his circle of puppet masters and sycophants will act. Usefulness wanes, however, when the Trump Stink™ threatens Vance's (and MAGA's) 2028 ambitions to hold power.

When it's clear that DJT's scorched earth insanity will derail them, knives could come out.

Forced removal of DJT is a huge risk. Even his lukewarm supporters will see a martyrdom of the president and absolute betrayal by JD and the cabinet. But Vance wants the presidency, as does his daddy Peter Thiel. There is a limit to the humiliation he will withstand.

Many ifs involved.

JD Vance could yet save his political skin. But it will mean turning on Trump – and soon | Simon Tisdall The vice-president has endured his most humiliating – and damaging – week as his boss’s fall guy. How much more can Maga’s great hope take? asks Guardian foreign affairs commentator Simon Tisdall

When I reply to the uninformed "25th Amendment now! Congress do your job!" posts that the VP invokes not Congress and ask under what circumstances Vance would do so, valid question, I usually just get blocked. Oh well, your loss.

I have not been able to come up with that scenario. Now, maybe.

Liverwurst is my answer. My Husky/GSD has epilepsy and has to be pilled twice a day. In almost five years she's spit it out maybe half a dozen times. I make four little balls, hide the pill in one, then put them all down at the same time. She basically inhales them.

Now the cat on the other hand...
