The Wensum Valley is an incredibly special area of biodiversity and any major road route across it is going to run into the same insurmountable problems faced by the previous plans. Let's hope that common sense sees a less disruptive set of solutions.

Talk about flogging a dead horse! Norfolk C Council threw £50m down the drain pursuing a project that was doomed from the outset. Now they seem doomed to repeat their mistakes.

From ITN ā the government report that views nature loss as an existential security threat. | We uncovered the redacted climate report the government didnāt want you ... youtu.be/59DZiPdsOc8?siā¦
āThe report warns that multiple ecosystem collapses are now likely, not merely hypothetical. These failures, it states, will have ādire implicationsā for national security and will require serious strategic adaptation merely to limit the damage.ā

š Great to see Climate and Nature Crisis Caucus Vice-Chair @pippaheylings.bsky.social introduce a Bill to protect chalk streams today in Parliament. We urge the Government to support her plan before we irreversibly harm these globally rare habitats.

What the betting that this does not get roundly condemned by the British government? www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
My son had been tasked with writing a poem for school, so we had sat down and written together. It is a poem against cynicism and the mess we are in. It is about love (and doughnuts in ice cream).
Thatās beautiful, Andy!
Written by an actual adult in politics. I wonder what Trumpās reading age is? Going by this I doubt heās even middle grade.
Sonic booms over Norwich just now?
Weāve been warning for weeks that the Trump Administrationās dangerous, sensationalized operations are a threat to public safety.
āThe survey, involving 20,000 people from more than 27 leading democracies, including the US and Europe, suggests that Britons are the most pessimistic about their nationās future. And the UKās disillusioned Gen Z are losing faith in democracy.ā www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

However, there is a dark side to this new North Sea plan in which the fossil fuel industry &lobbyists win - lock-in to gas based carbon capture

A wonderful, insightful piece by @iainrobinson.bsky.social in latest issue of @hinterlandnf.bsky.social.
āGLOAMINGā describes a woodland under threat from the (currently shelved š¤) Norwich Western Link and its barbastelle #bat inhabitants. Iām touched to feature in the piece! š¹š¦š³
Thank you! It would have been completely impossible to write without the amazing insights I gained through your work.
I am living in such fear of what the Planning & Infrastructure Bill will mean if passes unamended into law.
How then to speak for old trees, the bats who encircle it at night or the birds that live in this hedge?

Can somebody please start hanging EU flags off lampposts?
Do you think this planning bill is worth it? This government is selling out our nature and wildlife to benefit wealthy property developers. We were promised change with Labour.

Mass layoffs with far fewer replacement jobs in AI will be the likely trend over the next decade.
āMr Jassy said in June that the increase in AI tools will likely lead to job cuts as machines take over routine tasks.ā
As Amazon cut 30k white collar jobs, you have to wonder about the mythical new jobs the techno-capitalists say will be created by AI.

Nature action: email STEVE REED m: steve.reed.mp@parliament.uk simply saying MANDATE SWIFT BRICKS. If you want you can email me at thefeatherspeech@gmail.com for a template but that is the simple message to convey. PEOPLE POWER WORKS BUT ONLY ⦠if enough people actually act !!
Can you actually believe this?
A swift brick costs £35
But this dire, anti-nature government, must make sure it does all it can to maximise house builders' profits
Totally inexcusable

A Wren stands upright on a mossy branch, beak open in full song, small but defiant. Against a soft golden blur, it seems to speak out for nature itself: a clear voice cutting through the noise, refusing to be ignored.
The Government has tabled 67 last-minute amendments to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill.ā¼ļø
Rushed through with little scrutiny, itās a shambolic way to reform the planning system.
It creates confusion, sidelines science and leaves nature dangerously exposed.
