If I knew viewing Guernica would put money directly into the pockets of a still living Pablo Picasso, who had announced publicly that he would be using that money to terrorize, harm, and kill women, not only would I not go view Guernica, it would fundamentally change the meaning of Guernica as art.

In conclusion:
1) These thick pricks are gonna get all of us put under blanket anti-filming laws sooner rather than later
2) It's unpleasant watching them go about doing what they do, makes me want a wash
Very jarring to watch the work of someone setting out to deliberately engineer confrontations, in a way that shows a chilling lack of inner ethos as he dances from "I'm just curious" to sticking a camera in someone's face & narrating their actions, but filmed from his POV [literally & figuratively]
I dunno, harder to describe than I expected. When someone drills down into *what* he's doing and what his aim is, it's always some barbled thing like "oh I want to figure out why your car park gates raise for a pedestrian, that's weird for a big company isn't it"
He has this nasty vibe where he stands right in the middle of the main entrance filming with a camcorder, raising his voice about flying a drone etc, but makes a big show of pointing out that he's got the *legal* right to do what he's doing, he's checked for bylaws or temporary restrictions etc...
Came across this really unpleasant YouTube rabbit hole of a guy going filming on business parks etc but deliberately being conspicuous, baiting people into confrontations with his behaviour, sticking cameras in their faces, quoting laws. Completely random unimportant people, not even cops etc

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
Okay, so, Lost. Lost, Lost, Lost. Did I regret rewatching it? No. Did I discover new depths to the show i‘d overlooked? Also no, not really. Sadly it’s as meatless, pointless & ambling as I remember it being. It’s not really a great character drama, too much waffle. More Jesus than I remember. C+.
Okay the epilogue is really funny because it’s supposed to be “tying up loose ends” but it introduces the gaping plot hole that for the entire show, this island everyone was so keen to find has been regularly flown over by the paid staff of a very traceable warehouse in Guam
I remember the same feeling of confusion and disappointment and anger that this was really how we were gonna leave it
Watching the final final episode now and a solid 70% of the double length episode is characters meeting up in the alt future purgatory reality and making this face at each other.
Getting into symbolism for the first time can someone recommend some visual allegories for beginners
Generation Kill 2
“I’m following Jacob’s plan because I’m one of the good guys”
“No I’M following the plan because I’m one of the good guys”
”Hey, WE’RE the good guys and WE are following the plan”
“Yeah well we‘re saving the island”
“No you’re destroying the island”
“No YOU’RE destroying it!”
et cetera et cetera
“Take the cup and drink” so the mythology of the show is like a standup comic trying to recount the gospels and the Old Testament but he keeps getting distracted talking about how much he fears his father and hates his mother
Bumping up against the final minutes of the entire show and the writers have completely failed to ween themselves off “This is The Whoopie Cushion. It’s Important. You have to sit on it or Everyone Will Die, because I said so, you just have to trust me, it has to be this way…” zzzz deeply unserious
Absolutely astounding that they spent their penultimate 45 minutes on this absolute guff
The Jacob/Man In Black episode is so stupid, like the writers have no insight into what the island is and so neither do its master protectors, so ‘enlightened’ characters fuck around doing a caveman version of the dharma initiative doing caveman experiments on magnetic rocks, drilling caveman wells
I quite like the UK Eurovision entry this year. It actually sounds like a Eurovision song, not just a sarcastic parody of one from 30 years ago www.youtube.com/watch?v=niMK...
Every single season of Lost feels like someone was in the middle of telling you an improvised story and has just gone “no no wait hang on hang on forget that, what’s happening is” as they erase 60% of the existing lore and try again, six consecutive times.
Season 6 ups the ante by replacing the show’s frequent gunfire with characters regularly ordering artillery strikes on each other now. It’s like the late stages of an RTS
worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.
Maybe I’ve just been looking in this wrong places but I’ve seen surprisingly little of this kind of analysis aimed at the regular article-reader and sadly I don’t feel smart enough to produce it myself
“Why are big companies who already own the earth still chasing fast profits? Why are tools that make life easier bad? How come we’re mad about having to do less?” I think this feeds directly into Marxist analysis and leftist economic theories, and is more productive than aimless “grr slop” reactions
