The fact that nobody seriously believes there is an institution in this country that will check the president—that we’re all just sitting here hoping that he gets distracted and fails to follow through on his genocidal threats—is the most damning indictment of our political system I’ve seen yet.

I understand what these words mean when these words get put together but I don't understand how these words could possibly be together.

And it gets me wondering. How much other awful stuff have previous Administrations been able to wiggle subtlety through these gaps of legal process and follow-through.

What has been really wild to learn as a layman is just how many incredibly important things lean precariously on gentleman's or common-sense agreements.

So much shit needs to be locked down once we're able to wrench some semblance of actual control back.

Once you’re locked into someone’s cloud for software you use, they control what you pay, when, and whether or not you can even migrate elsewhere. Never expect your cloud software or service to exist forever. Never expect it to get better over time. Always expect it to get more expensive.

That's a lot of folks I'd love to support, but they're still on that damn platform.

At some point, I'm hoping writers realize that they're losing more potential eyeballs and income by sticking with Substack. It's a freaking blog with weblinks and a Stripe processor. This isn't big brain web tech.

Oh goodness! Haven't thought about this in a while! Grandpa worked at the Ma Bell and his den reused a wooden cable spool as a coffee table. Pretty sure the company logo was left in place when he stained it to match his decor. I don't think I've thought about it in over 20 years!

What happened in Kansas is *exactly* why you need to get rid of Newsom at the primary.

He will not protect trans people.
He will not protect homeless people.
He will not protect anyone. He considers outside of the cultural norm.

... that's Republican shit.

Oh yeah. Absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised if the VCs behind Soylent/Huel/etc of the last decade and the ones currently trying to cram AI into everything are the exact same people.

And as someone who admits to liking Soylent: Its coffee flavor was helpful when I just couldn't stomach actual food for the first half of the day. (Thankfully that isn't an issue anymore!)

The insanity was the tech bros trying to use it as a complete replacement for all nutritional intake! 😱

With hunger suppression drugs such as Ozempic, there's a growing demographic of folks struggling with protein deficiancy due to said suppression. While it's absolutely not the sole driver of this fad, there's an increase of appeal to products that pack on the protein.

Heads up folks: @thetnholler.bsky.social posted an AI-generated video this morning that was a deepfake of the captain of the U.S. women’s hockey team, and they seem to be promoting it as if it’s a real video. So watch out for that and don’t spread fakes.

is life just a series of days where you're tired in the afternoon and wide awake at night, running behind on weekly deadlines, and seeing pants get slim and big and then slim again over the years until you die?

People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.
