Book cover for The Bloomsbury Handbook of religion gender and sexuality in the ancient Near East. The cover has a Babylonian plaque of three figures holding up what appear to be two lions.
My author’s copy has arrived from @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social . Very nice to see in person. I wrote an entry with Laura Quick on developments in women’s ritual bathing in ancient Judaism.
Wonderful to see.

@hodidaskalos.bsky.social
what is a missional-organic church advocate?
It baffles me that @australianlabor.bsky.social wants to hang this failed, unfair policy around its neck, when they could condemn it as a folly of the unpopular Morrison government and ditch it. Sign our petition to urge them to abolish it now!

Winter sunset with ducks gliding across a gold, pink and purple Lake Albert, Wagga Wagga, Australia.
Congratulations to Mark Short on becoming the Primate of the Anglican Church of Australia. Former rector of South Wagga Anglican church and currently Bishop of the Canberra -Goulburn Diocese.
Terracotta of an Amazon, mounted on a horse, wearing a cuirass molded to show female anatomy, wearing a knobbed Montefortino helmet with holes where plumes could be inserted.
Depictions of female anatomical cuirasses are relatively rare in the ancient world, even on mythical female warriors.
But this Amazon terracotta from Canosa shows that "boob armor" pairs quite well with a Montefortino helmet.
Note the drill holes on top for plumes!

My parish church when I was growing up.
I was christened in this church and later did a holiday club. While I moved away from the Anglican tradition, seeds of faith were planted & I'm now a NT scholar.

[On Titus 2:5]: “In this era, households are economically productive. To instruct a woman to “work at home” was to instruct her to be economically productive. Like Neo’s wife she may even do his work while he busies himself with civic duties.” - Lyn M. Kidson

"Young women are 'quiet quitting' the church. It's not a loud rebellion, but a gradual disengagement from formal involvement, even if they still hold Christian belief." #WomenInChurch #FaithTrends
