Sprites for swords from Ys I Chronicles+ stored in memory, the bytes correspond to a color palette somewhere else in memory. From left to right: Short Sword, Long Sword, Talwar, Silver Sword and Flame Sword.
Deleted the last post because, welp, it turns out these are just the small sprites in the Equipment menu. Someone really needs to remind me to use my brain for even half a second at times.
I heard you don't like fireball spam.
Were the fireballs the only thing sped up by refresh rate in this fight?
For 16:9 video: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -s 484x272 -r 30000/1001 -q:v 1 -codec:v mpeg1video -g 5 -ar 44100 -ac 2 -codec:a mp2 -b:a 192k output.mpg For 4:3 video: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -s 711x400 -r 30000/1001 -q:v 1 -codec:v mpeg1video -g 5 -ar 44100 -ac 2 -codec:a mp2 -b:a 192k output.mpg -s is resolution, the game will stretch the video to fit the monitor 729x410 is already at a point when you see issues (maybe a bit lower) if you're using a 4:3 video that you're trying to fit in 16:9, the higher you go the more columns of pixels start smearing to the right side of the screen, 712x400 works fine for this case -r is frame rate, 30000/1001 gives you 29,970031 which is what the original uses -q:v is video quality, 1 is the highest video quality, 31? is the lowest, -g already lowers the file size significantly and considering that mpg video quality is already not the best, there's no reason to go above 1 -codec is the audio (a) and video (v) encoding for video mpeg1video is the only option that works (which is color innacurate), mpeg2video technically works but looks completely broken for audio only mp2 is tested but I assume everything else won't work -g is frame grouping, max is 12 though there isn't much of a visual difference, 5 is about the best since any lower only starts to reduce it by about 6~ megabytes, even 4 to 5 only reduces by 10~ megabytes, though that will change on a file to file basis -ar is audio sample rate, the game uses 44100, does matter for music files, not for the opening mpg files -ac is audio channels, 2 for stereo, haven't check if the game behaves well with less or more channels -b:a is bitrate, the game uses 192k for its openings, any values above that seem to cause screen tearing (unsure)
Since the MVs for Ys I&II are just .mpg-s renamed to .dat they're easy enough to mod. Here are some notes I made for ffmpeg in case it ends up helping anyone. ffmpeg's scaler also seems to be about as good as can be so it's fine to just let ffmpeg scale the video.
True on all fronts! Been a good couple of years since I last played it, I should really replay it one of these days.
Curious what you would think about Iconoclasts since I group up the two in my mind a decent bit.

photo of me holding a colored pencil drawing above my desk. this drawing depicts a beach in vibrant pink, blue, and yellow colors. in the background is a cloudy sky and a lighthouse. in the foreground is my friend’s OC, dream. he’s sitting on the beach and is surrounded by a few lobsters. i’ll write a more detailed alt text description when i post a better photo of it.
it’s done :^)
Don't think I've seen you talk about Dust: An Elysian Tail
Well since you got it in my backlogged, Grandia, the series in general
Wasteland 3
I listened to Together Through Time by TWRP before and I thought it was alright but coming back I don't know how I didn't like Stralight Brigade as much as I do now.

It's there abouts. I want to say that it's about average 20$ for 1lp brand new, but that's based off of stuff I buy in Serbia, plus video game vinyls have higher prices overall probably because they have a smaller audience as well.

Yup, loop start and length. And I guess that would give me the permission needed. I still plan on having the version with less songs be the main one and have an addon pack as an optional file so I'll work on just that one for now and think about all that later.
Yet more lunacid
Either way I think I'll have the main file only use songs from their respective games, all I need to do is just push a few bytes to have them seamlessly play the same song without transitions. It'll be easy enough to have an optional file alter the code a bit and add more songs later on.
That would help a lot! I was planning on PCE being the first update but I'll include it with 1.0 then. As for the cover, it does sound close enough but it isn't really an official version even if it was supposed to be so I'd rather ask for permission from Vurez if they're still reachable.
Ys I&II Chronicles - Holders of Power
Original composer: Yuzo Koshiro
Arrangement: Yukihiro Jindo
Electric Guitar: Masaru Teramae & Terukazu Inoue
Bass: Atsushi Enomoto
Drums: Kotarow Hatanaka
I've planned on releasing more versions of Soundtracks+ before 1.0 but, good news, all of the reverse engineering and most of the coding planned for 1.0 is finished!
...Which just leaves busy work in balancing audio, adding loops and opening MVs, yaaaaay. Still very excited though!

For a little bit of context this was a part of me looking into if I could either replace or skip the opening MVs to put in my own implementation and it seems entirely doable.
Darm Tower 13F form Ys I&II Chronicles+ with the color palette set to 0x00 0x00, producing a mostly pitch black interior with dark gray pillars and characters and their reflections fully visible.
Ys I & II have bytes per area that decide the color palette, usually changing it just produces a complete mess but this wasn't too bad of a result.
This is a reference sheet for my OC "Astra Raksell", a super space adventurer. There are two designs, the first consists of a purple-haired androgynous character, with inner orange hair tied up in a very long ponytail long. They wear a "trench jacket" with a variety of colors: primarily black, with white and blue lines, and yellow star outline shapes across it. They wear blak shorts with blue lines at the end and a belt with a star shape buckle. They wear black boots with the same coloration as the rest of the outfit and have crystals over their boots and gloves. The other design is an armored battle form, they wear a white chestplate with a star symbol in the middle, dark bluish left arm armor, black and white leg armor, and their right arm is naked, to showcase its unnatural purple color, the "Aurora Arm", it has some smoke coming out of it like gas to showcase its "unnaturalness"
HEY YOU! HELLO!
I'm Astra Raksell! A "Super Space Adventurer VTUBER" — a mouthful, I know — who loves jrpgs, platformers n tokusatsu. I'm an artist & a bit of a writer!

Characters outside the Militia HQ of Barbado Port reacting to Adol using the Mirror. Fisherman Betelo: What the... ? A crab: *Burble-burble* Various Seagulls: Graawk?
And yes, it includes even the crabs and seagulls.
Characters outside of Zepik Village reacting to Adol using the Mirror. Old Man Corvo: Hmmm... This is... Elbert: What the hell?! Granny Soya: We're doomed! DOOMED!
Characters inside Orman's Spirits bar reacting to Adol using the Mirror. Ricardo: (hic) ...Whazzat? Cezar: Ugh... I drank too much... Nikki the Dancer: What in the world... ? Orman: Mm? Garreck: That was creepy... Donis: Whaa... ? Chest: ...Huh? Miner Doug: Oh, man, oh, man...
Raba inside Darm Tower 13F reacting to Adol using the Mirror. Raba: Ooh, I want one!
Feena and Jeba inside Jeba's House reacting to Adol using the Mirror. Feena: Adol, what's wrong? Jeba: That was pointless.
So today I learned that NPCs react to Adol using the Mirror in Ys I. It's not as extensive as them reacting to fire magic or gifts in Ys II since it's only a bubble but its there.
Yeah, nothing bad happened... Until Firefox forgot my profiles and I half asleep accidentally deleted the current one instead of an older one while I was recovering them lol. Oh well, the older wasn't too far back and it finally forced me to sort my RSS feeds lol
My OC Drystan sitting on a lounge chair in a destroyed room in front of a broken window. he is holding a wineglass full of glowing red liquid and holding the cravat that normally keeps his shirt closed.
My OC Ciella in her 'bondforged' outfit. she has two rainbow butterfly wings made of light coming from her back with lots of rainbows around her.
Thanks for the share!
I'm Raichana, I love OCs a very normal amount~ (especially the two i'm sharing... very normal about them *nod nod*)

Not me thinking how nice this trampoline function I coded is until I managed to blue screen myself with it, ffs
Yeah, though honestly that pillar jump in the same area is worse, the amount of times I landed on the edge and had to trek back is way too many
Pretty much my exact thoughts on it as well. Also pretty sure I just ignored That One Chest in the cave lol
