Like thank God he and Rosalina are only in a handful of scenes together, because you can hear the passion and love Brie Larson put into this role as a genuine Nintendo fan girl that Pratt just doesn’t have
The only real negative I can honestly give the movie considering what it is and what it’s trying to be is that Chris Pratt is still horrible at Mario. He’s the only bad VA in this movie and it’s really freakin obvious
The movie doesn’t have depth, which actually works out in its favor because not having depth is better than trying to have depth by doing all of the same tropes every single kids movie does. There’s no “liar revealed” or “all is lost moment” here.
I don’t quite understand why Nintendo revealed [spoiler] and [spoiler] last week because if they had not, that would have been a fucking awesome thing. Even then it was still cool
Mario movie 2 is good! As long as you approach it as a low stakes family comedy full of cool references. It’s not an incredible movie but it does exactly what it sets out to do in a better way than the original
