And no one cares jfc 300k lol drop in the bucket nothing burger. Billions are what we are talking about with the current admin. This is like trying find a weed dealer in the DNC while the main product of the GOP is meth. Isn't Don Jr on the board of Kalshi and polymarket?

For all those still feeling the moon joyβ€”Artemis II was brought to you by public schools and publicly funded science. Copy that! πŸ‘©β€πŸš€πŸš€πŸ’•

Not really. It's comparing apples to apples. There were two choices: one was going to president. 🫠

Don't blame them god damn this current regime is going down in history as the fall of the American hegemony.

Yes, AI for a "fix all do it all" technology isn't worth the money they're dumping in. Nor the energy we are turbo wasting.

Also fusion and carbon capture are pipe dreams. They aren't going to save us.(the article talked about it)

Im not going to die on this hill. Our current plants should be running at least until they can be replaced with renewables. Also still need to figure out energy storage solutions.

You can insulate yourself but then you fall into an echo chamber where misinformation and bad ideas thrive.

Like I don't think nuclear is going to be the majority power i don't know if thats come through in my posts. I just think in edge cases and scenarios they are beneficial or a supplement to the renewable grid.

Alright I understand. Good luck hopefully we can have debates on policies that are being implemented versus our dreams of policies that could/should be implemented.

Ya we both agree there are problems we both agree renewables are the future. I just think your views are a bit idealistic and rigid. We'll see what happens if the past is a predictor of the future. we're pretty screwed anyway

And this is a metaphorical drop in an ocean of the daily USA emissions. This isn't an overnight throw up some solar panels and wind turbines fix right? This is a complex logistical nightmare with demons adding fuel to the fire. So many layers and ruling out an effective solution seems short sighted.

And this says they are trying to greenwash fossil fuels, specifically natural gas. Also "Soros funded" level. Coal still held power in Congress till Manchin left. I think your view is narrow. I get you don't like the idea of nuclear but it feels like vibes over substance atm

One person associated with JE no details provided this is "Soros funded" levels of brain rot slop.

This article talked about correlation and the difficulties of mating to different energy systems. It said according to data from about 1990 to 2014 countries with nuke programs didn't drop carbon emissions as much as with renewables. I don't see this being a complete nonbo.

This article said "largely solar and wind" and mixed in hydrogen as the stop gap. Done any research into the viability of hydrogen lately? This is an ideal and kind of an op-ed opinion piece.

Also that plant supplies 10% of California's TOTAL ENERGY. The power generation is insane. I hate how you act like mining isn't involved in production of solar panels or there aren't downsides to manufacturing and disposal of them too. This whole black and white is a bit out of reality.

Im just saying the end energy solution for the foreseeable future is going to be a mixture of wind, solar, and nuke. The storage situation is already thereand we cant put that toothpaste back in the tube.

Brother cutting down one tree? The USA is deforsted already trees are crop in NA

Are we going to stop getting radioactive materials? I guess x-ray machines are no longer on the menu. I think you are over estimating the logistics of "guarding" spent uranium. As stated before we got room for storage it doesn't take that much fuel for power. And no is going to make a bomb with it.

Soo I guess solar panels and wind turbines grow on trees? Water vapor stays in the atmosphere for what weeks days? I think you guys railing on nuclear energy are biting on the oil propaganda against nuclear energy.

Oil and nuke are not the same level on propaganda. I have seen northern Iowa and the turbine fields there. There are also some areas in SW Nebraska that have a decent amount. Nebraska could be a powerhouse of renewable energy if the state and local gov, weren't so unbelievably corrupt ol'boys club

Diablo Canyon Power Plant - Wikipedia

A little expensive but the amount of power they generate is insane 😳. Also not actively contributing to the climate crisis.

I mean, looking at nuclear, it's just so damn alluring, basically free dense energy. It is so hard to ignore. I mean look at the USA road system its (not exactly sure) trillions of dollar infrastructure that destroys itself. If we railed up we would have the funds for it and gen renewables.

Another problem with electricity is smelting/iron workingWe just haven't found a good way of doing them at scale electricity.Im for an immediate halt of fossil fuels unless for vital functions, but hey the ones making the laws won't be alive in 20 years to feel the effects so let the good times roll

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

I mean just because seems 18th century doesn't mean it isn't effective and efficient. Its super useful in sterilizing, energy dense, cheap and clean. It will be around forever.

We also need to address the elephant in the room. Lithium l know renewables are the future. I think we need storage solutions that aren't lithium intensive. Heard rumblings of sodium batteries but haven't done much of a dive into it.

How do you address the steam generation issue?

2 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

Im not sure if that's supposed to read as condescending? Electricity still doesn't do certain things well like steam generation that is used in a industry. If we want to actually tackle the climate crisis we need immediate substitutes. Long term we need to rethink our our cities/logistics/economy

I say the risks and costs of nuclear energy are more than worth it versus fossil fuels. I would say full steam ahead on both nuclear and renewables(solar/wind). Tbh a little diversity in energy is a good thing. Also, it sounds more like hurdles for nuke are more buercratic than feasibility issue.
