Got myself an early birthday present by donating to jinglejam.tiltify.com and you should too. Great charities that do excellent work, and in return you get amazing games (and a warm feeling inside your heart).

Made even more annoying when there is no way to actually talk to a human being, outside of calling some 1-800 number. I'm looking at you FedEx in Finland.

Here in the north you can certainly experience that feeling in April and in a city 😂

It's nice to see so many options for adding commenting feature to websites these days. But it still seems almost like one needs to roll their own if they want a really barebones self-hosted option.

I’m not proud of not having used ChatGPT or whatever bc it’s … easy not to use it. Choosing not to use it has no impact on my day. Bc it’s not even good at the thing it’s supposed to be doing. It’d be like being proud of myself for not using a broken calculator to do math.

YES! That box full of "ancient" cables and adapters that I "should throw out" came in clutch today. DVI-D to HDMI so that I can connect my 2024 work MacBook to a screen that is almost 20 years old.

Every day I yearn more and more for this. To go back in time where this was the norm. I mean sure, throw in some backend (sometimes). But other than that awesome!

I'd say that you can have a direct impact on the performance and the amount of resources that your server has, not so with the kind of devices your users have. So myself I tend to favour doing things more on the backend.

It's very much a balancing thing though.

watch out for this! for folks who don't know:

- windows+R opens the run window which lets you run any program
- ctrl+V pastes

so this puts some malicious command on your clipboard, then convinces you to run it yourself. don't.

Speaking of doom scrolling, even if you setup filters and words to be muted, quite often it's just an image from somewhere which contains exactly that which you've been trying to avoid. Frustrating.

This is very important to remember. Senior developers google all the time. Sometimes the simplest of things. So it's important to learn how to google well. What keywords to use, what sites typically have good answers. And then also how to evaluate those answers vs. copy-pasting solutions.

A bit easier when there's just one app. No confusion at all 😂

Throw a "fuck" or "fucking" into your search to bypass the AI Overview

I've just found the best hack. Swear in your search request. It's a great way to bypass the AI summary and make your search history look like you're chronically pissed off at everything!

Still need to give it a try, just need to find some time for it. Was thinking that could do it for a real project though to fully understand it. Any pain points or negatives that you've noticed?

Man some days you just want to build a cabin and just live off the land. And also the cabin has WiFi and a PS5.

Interesting idea to use WordPress as a self hosting platform. Especially if you setup multisite network and use plugins to achieve functionality.

Main concern would be the performance. Especially if done on Synology / QNAP lower end devices.
