This is amazing news, can’t wait to see it.
Also when I saw this today, realised my daughter (19) had never seen the story as she’s not on Twitter or Bluesky. Read it out loud to her and we both cried from laughing 😆

8 years ago, I told a story which changed my life forever. Shortly after, an old pal from college asked if he could turn it into a film.
So I am DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE that 'Me, Myself & Mary' is not only finished, but has been chosen to lead the Tribeca Festival's animated shorts roster this year.
There's an instinct to blame the left that these agri protests are often right wing or led by people who are right wing cause "the left" didn't engage but that ignores that many of these people have their own conservative to right wing ideologies.
Tom Waits has recorded a song with Massive Attack and it is UNREAL 🙌 www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-57...
the official conservative position in Ireland is that as they get less popular and representative of the population, they deserve more of a voice in public discourse, an obviously absurd position that is nonetheless constantly validated by the Irish press for some reason
hello 👋 i have developed a new tool called blüuümpíi. blüuümpíi will convert every file on your hard drive to a .wav file without asking you, maximize your system volume, and play them on every bluetooth speaker you have ever connected to. if you offer feedback on blüuümpíi i will take legal action
That comment about how she would have diagnosed herself with ‘15 brain tumours’ is revealing I think. Hypochondria, eh? Compulsively imagining dangers when there’s none there, eh?
It is…not good
Been working on a list of nicknames for people from specific Irish places, along the lines of ‘Galwegians’:
Limerichards
Celbridgerators
Traleejits
Will update as more occur to me kthnxbye x
I feel like I am taking crazy pills - for every 1 rental property in Cork, there's 4 Airbnbs - this is lunacy in the middle of a decade-long housing crisis. Like, wtf are we doing here?
Just came up with a deadly name for an Irish drag queen: Úna Bomber
The question of our time is how do you artistically rebel — and win — against a totally flat cultural landscape? And before my readers, who I assume are all approximately 36 years old and very tired, say, “so what, who cares?” This does matter. I mean, just look around right now lol. You know things are bad when even OpenAI President Greg Brockman is posting stuff, like “Taste is a new core skill.” If people had taste, your company wouldn’t exist, Greg. But if everything is just attention now, and attention is completely commodified by algorithmic tech platforms, how can you push back against that? Well, I am slowly coming around to a theory on the new cool: You have to essentially pre-deplatform yourself. Culture right now is determined not by human teams of editors and producers picking and choosing what youth culture gets the spotlight, but, instead, by the unthinking algorithms that power YouTube and TikTok. Which means the only things that have the level of scarcity and danger required to be seen as cool by young people will, slowly, but surely, be whatever is unacceptable on those platforms.
A post so smart I'm almost afraid to share it.

That is gorgeous!
AI nailed by @ryanhatesthis.bsky.social - “It is not a revolution in computing, but a revolution in accepting lower standards”
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)
“In fairness, we also seem to believe that over one-in-three Irish people are accessing social housing compared to the real figure of 9.2%, which begs the question: how much social housing do these people think that Ireland has?”
Here is this week’s column.

Onion spoof ad for Gemini AI - “our AI won’t just tell you how to kill yourself, it’ll sell you the noose”
Got myself a Xmas gift of a print subscription to @theonion.com, first one arrived this week and it’s **unreal**. The fake ads are particularly great.
The wonderful writer and all round lovely person @jmcm.bsky.social needs to raise money for a new laptop - she gives so generously to the writing community in Ireland, please support her with a small donation or by sharing ❤️ gofund.me/365b21652
The final Calvin and Hobbes, which appeared in papers 30 years ago today.
Scientists now believe that the human brain--a magic goo for worrying--can also be used to do other things
One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential
Once in a century political opportunity here, if only there were a party to claim it
“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to
Open the fucking windows on buses are you all insane
Just a heads up with all the Christmas markets and fairs on at the moment - if you see art or art-based pieces for sale, ask who the artist is, because the amount of people deceptively slapping "made locally" on pieces locally farted out by their computer and a genAI prompt is getting depressing
