"There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people."
- Commander William Adama, Battlestar Galactica

Good to know! I’m still relying on KU as I build name recognition, but this looks like something worth considering!
I have never heard of itch.io
It seems to be a platform for game designers. Are authors there too? And what about readers?
I had literally just signed the paperwork on my dolls/tiny screws factory in the US. 😩
Not obscure at all. The hesitancy in hitting the like button is worrying that we’ll be struck by lightening. I’m not a practicing catholic, but I’m well steeped in the art of guilt.
These fired federal workers were stewards of tax payer dollars. That’s why firing 121,000 of them has caused government spending to go UP. Federal employees save more money than they cost. For example, the VA paid me $120K a year and I saved them $60M a year.
It takes a #specialkindofstupid to go in guns-ablazin’ like this! Good thing he doesn’t have any real responsibility.
Oh wait…
Yes, yes, yes!!!
I love the support indie bookstores get. They deserve it. But it saddens me that indie authors don’t get the same support. Indie bookstores largely won’t stock indie books and we’re the most hard hit by the online boycott. It would be nice if indie book stores could return the support we give them.
We're celebrating Earth Day 2025 by releasing The Philly Biodiversity Zine!
6 Philly artists collaborated to put together a cute, bright, educational zine all about how we can support the wildlife we share Philly with.
We're distributing 3000 copies across the city!
Just finished “Feel the Bern” (a cozy mystery by Andrew Shaffer). I accessed it on audio through Hoopla—if you need a little chuckle to ease your political woes, you really can’t go wrong with this one! The narration was especially good and there was plenty of Bernie-infused 🤣. Up next…B.O. & J.B.
Well, after the courts found them guilty of misleading the public & they had to pay millions in damages, a good chunk of the American public decided, “yup—I’d still rather get my info from there than anywhere else.” Getting rid of Fox won’t help if the majority of Americans choose drama over facts.
Unfortunately, all Fox wants to talk about is “what does gang activity look like”… and “how do South American gangs grow from interactions with LA gangs”… they refuse to touch the actual story of what is being done to a human and his family.
That’s the tricky part—making classes meaningful for real-time (and in my case, in-person interaction), but still valuable to those to are just observers. It really is an art! One that I’m admittedly still learning to hone.
I teach graduate-level literacy courses in a hybrid format—we meet 5-6 times per semester and the rest is asynchronous. I find even that model challenging. Creating meaningful content that is strictly one-directional never feels natural.
Now there’s a theme that never would have occurred to me! I love it!
That’s pretty good! I wish I could get the Lincoln Project to create some book trailers for me!
Sometimes you just need to get back to basics. I went to our local Maker Space with my mom and the 12-YO and met this fascinating young man who collects trash from local rivers and forests and then turns it into art.
I’m definitely feeling like I picked a good time to finally get divorced. I legally changed back to my maiden name this week and couldn’t be happier! Now I need to get to Motor Vehicles to secure the license. This is insane!
I guess it's time that women stop taking their husband's names
Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act.
Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes?
Staffer: a DL and birth certificate.
Me: The documents don’t match
Staffer: Then a marriage certificate.
Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too?
Staffer: No
Me: See the problem?
I was at SSA recently (for my name change). An elderly man came in without an appointment because he hadn’t received his check. Fortunately, the woman was compassionate and added him into the lineup, but there will come a time when they just can’t. People will starve. People will die.
Keep talking about the Signal security lapse at the Pentagon. The media may have forgotten about it, but the voters have not.
Not a single word to help the 33m small businesses in this country. Not from anyone in the administration.
So many buy from China, and don't have alternatives.
So many didn't have the cash to front run the tariffs and buy inventory
Their objective is to test their theory they can defy the court with impunity.
Just blogged: Let's not add to the lie that art is worthless by sneering at each other. Why buying into the struggling artist narrative hurts us all.

Your instincts might be right. I think most people setting up honest accounts include bios and pictures. But maybe that’s a faulty assumption.
