I’ve heard of passports numbers that didn’t match visa applications because of an L and I confusion. Passport
numbers and IDs should use serifs in my opinion…

Watervolour painting of a girl looking up, wearing a cap, scarf and a messenger bag
More watercolour painting practice. Trying not to be so scared of something more realistic. I'm not happy with the way I rendered the face here - I think it's overworked, messy and muddy, and the proportions are off overall, but that's what sketchbooks are for. 🤷♂️
Well, I love it! I wish I could make a watercolour look as fresh. And faces are so hard, I think you did great here!

A ceramic egg with three holes in it.
A ceramic egg that is clearly a salt and pepper shaker.
This salt-and-pepper shaker was in my daughter’s Easter basket, it was always my intention to steal it and now I have.

Photo of an oil pastel colour mixing chart
I picked up some new and replacement pastels yesterday and spent a bit of time on this mixing chart today. It came out higher in chroma than I anticipated, but I think there's also plenty of calmer colours, too. I'll have to see how I fare with this as my palette for the next couple of paintings.
Graphite sketch of a man
Once or twice per year I get the urge to draw more realistically and that's what this sketch is
Translation is a form of creation. The translator has to make decisions about preserving style over direct content, about cultural equivalence, about how to preserve a sense of pun or sentence structure from one language to the next. People who assume an LLM can do it are not understanding the task.
I was so happy today to learn that when we die, we become minuscule dust specks: carbon, oxygen, iron, calcium and other stuff. The stuff that forms stars.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - going back to illustrating in mixed media feels really good. Want the immediacy, texture and happy accidents of traditional materials with the control of digital art? Then tradigital is the way to go! 🙌

Happy World Book Day! 📚
One of my unfinished sketches with color palette. Text: ai art is lazy, uninspired, and it all looks the same. Just fyi if you use the human plagiarism machine I don’t respect you as a creator.
Seeing a big influx on Insta of “children’s book illustrators” following me. Their profiles of full of clearly AI-generated, generic, smiling, dead-eyed children.
Imagine a newsletter subscription that includes also a yearly book. Something you could lick (not sure it'll taste good though, but you could!). A nicely printed object, fully made in Japan.
From today, ALL MundoMendo members get the books (a 30 euro value) for free.
