Otherwise I agree with you a billion percent. Both governments are such massive disappointments

I would argue they aren't even fiscal conservative policies - they are Conservative ones. In my view, fiscal conservative is about the government saving money and Conservative is about massive handouts to big business

And how many billions are we spending to support public transit, active transportation, moving away from fossil fuels because they are vulnerable to the current sort of situations, etc?

Opinion: Food is food regardless of where it comes from In the recent budget, the government of Manitoba announced it will remove provincial sales tax from prepared meals sold in grocery stores, while continuing to apply it to the very same meals sold in r...

When you buy prepared food at the grocery store, no one asks for a tip. But not sure the restaurant lobby wants to go there...

Manitoba NDP government loans $475K to Winnipeg AI call-screening company | CBC News Manitoba's NDP government has provided financial support to another private business, this time in the provincial tech sector. Premier Wab Kinew's cabinet authorized a $475,000 loan to JasperVOCAL, a ...

Oh, cool - the NDP is helping to combat phone spam....
...Oh nevermind, they are giving taxpayer money to a company run by MB Conservatives so insurance companies can more easily use AI to spam my phone. Lovely.

As a pedestrian, it takes close to 90 seconds just to cross the intersection at Academy (at Maryland bridge) at any time day or night to continue walking or running on Wellington Crescent

I've had so many "awkward" moments at those lights where I've pulled up next to and waved at drivers who just punish passed me or cut me off. Nothing will piss me off more than if I get killed one day so someone could spend 8 more seconds waiting at a red light

Same at the Maryland Bridge. I bike like maybe 10-15km/h and 95% of the time, every single vehicle that passes me westbound after Grosvenor will see me again when I roll up next to them at the red light

Yeah, no kidding. In my mind, I thought they were stuck on a tiny island in the Arctic Circle and not <check notes> in a hotel in a major Canadian city (obviously sounds like a terrible situation to be in, but very misleading headline)

'British Airways left us on a freezing Canadian island for days' Jon Shipman says it was "ridiculous" that passengers were left in Newfoundland for two days.

It is a little funny to me that the "island" in question is Newfoundland. Like BBC, my friends, it's significantly larger than Ireland.

Going to a measles super-spreader event...in this economy?

Super awesome that there will still be 2 cars lanes for most of it, so anyone doing 40 can be easily zipped around 😞

One thing I often think about is how the police knew immediately how fast the driver who killed Rob was going. Did they show up the next day with radar guns? Nah - why bother. Surely that was the first and last time anyone ever sped far beyond "acceptable" speeding

1.2 km is huge?
Even in terms of the full street length (~6km), calling it huge makes little sense. Unless you mean the width of this stretch, which god forbid we reallocate even temporarily to make it safer for everyone...

...and the underdog thing happened and my $5 was turned into $50. I cashed that out and haven't bet on sports since I don't know what I'm doing and if it's that easy to do something stupid that turns out awesome, the flip side is a very scary thing

One time I got some free lotto credit and I thought it would be fun to bet on a sports thing. I picked what I thought was the safest bet based on the odds (it was baseball, which I have zero concept of what teams are good). Anyhow turns out it was the bet least likely to pay out...

Manitoba to cut PST at grocery stores in new budget: premier | CBC News Provincial taxes will be taken off more grocery store items under Manitoba's next budget, Premier Wab Kinew says.

One of my most unpopular, yet entirely correct opinions is that the only way to "solve" the out of control price of groceries is for government to open grocery stores. All other measures inadvertently (or perhaps advertently) increase profits of the gougers

Drivers be pulling guns on each other but cyclists can't even get the city to install some plastic sticks that have already been bought and are sitting in a warehouse

Assuming current PST goods don't magically go up 7% because of "oil prices" or "supply chain issues" or "unavoidable inflation". Because so much better to give that $10 to pay for Galen Weston's new yacht than fund the healthcare system, am I right?

Winnipeggers ‘deadlocked’ on reducing speed limit, but opposition stronger than support: survey A new survey finds a narrow majority of respondents oppose lowering Winnipeg’s default speed limit, a move city council is set to vote on later this week.

Siri, what does deadlocked mean?

Exhibit 1837738 of why paying close attention to what Winnipeg city councillors say isn't really great for one's general well-being and mental health. Like if this makes any sense to you - you definitely need a hug.

Winnipeg is a winter city. This clearly means that we need to extend the boating season. The rivers are still frozen, which impedes Joe Tacklebox. Therefore a temporary boat detour on the residential side streets next to the river has been created.

Clearly the work of the radical extremist boat lobby demanding all our streets be turned into boating lanes!
