A white garment with some kind of food stain. Humiliating.

A pair of dirty hands rest on a car engine. Rough, tough, cool.

A pair of dirty hands rest on a car engine. Rough, tough, cool.

Here is an easy solution:

Food stains are humiliating, as they suggest you're a little baby who can't feed themselves.

Oil stains, such as those you'd get from working on your car, suggest you're tough, independent, and skilled.

Thus, simply cover your food stains with used motor oil.

Difficult to be at the end of the consultation to dictate a candid summary and then ask the patient to approve.

I think more needs to understood about the consent process overall.

I would also add that I suspect a lot of legitimate journalism and even academic writing is supported by AI and has no such disclosure.

But I concede if I was a better writer I wouldn’t have needed Claude’s help.

I can understand your disappointment.

In my defence I went back and forth with multiple refinements.

The points I am making are mine.

Had I written it “by hand” it would have taken hours to put together and as busy GP and father of small kids it was the expedient way to put together an essay

My hunch is that many users would have a less critical view. The point I hope is clear is that anyone using the technology should think very carefully about how it changes their thinking and behaviour because it certainly does. Maybe for better or maybe for worse.

I suspect many users of ambient scribes would read my blog and not recognise the experience I had. My hunch is that certain cognitive characteristics and mental models of practicing medicine might be associated with issues I described.

NEW ANALYSIS: North Sea “drill baby drill” would cut bills by just £16–£82 per year, and only if tax revenues are redistributed.

A fully renewable UK could save households up to £441 says @smithschool.ox.ac.uk.

I Was an Enthusiastic Early Adopter of AI Scribes. Here’s Why I Stopped A GP reflects on what eighteen months of ambient scribing taught them about the consultation they thought they already understood.

My reflections on ambient scribes in primary care medicine.

Head line: “AI saves you time.”

Well, I think you’ll find it’s a bit more complicated than that.

I’m a doctor and the same issue for health literacy. You need to be able to read and write and understand basic ideas of cause and effect, some concept of risk, and how to discriminate conjecture and evidence based advice. If you can't read very well that's all unrealistic.
