I'm on it, and I've never posted about AI, so either I was caught for having subscribed to a now deleted 'Users who have posted content generated with AI' block list, or for liking some anti-AI post that they scraped.

You were added to the list 21 days ago, so they probably trawled quotes and replies to the Attie announcement and yours was flagged. Or something like that

What's changed from the IBR Draft SEIS? Well, this new bit in the summary certainly jumps out:

Got a surprising call Thursday ... from the chief of the U.S. Forest Service. He wanted to talk about the reorganization of the federal agency that manages 193M acres nationwide and 16M in Oregon — including many of our most iconic places. But the plan has brought concern: tinyurl.com/276pd66r

Over 200 apartments planned for Beaverton redevelopment site - Portland Business Journal Two developers were selected through an RFP for a vacant plot of land in central Beaverton for a mixed-use development.

There's also more news on the smaller Biggi 'Lombard West' site across the street, since I last checked— a developer was selected for 231 units and 10,400 sqft of commercial space across two mass timber buildings.

I don't know exactly how long this has been the case, but the empty field immediately adjacent to Beaverton Transit Center is finally up for sale by the Biggi family.

To be honest, until this weekend, the temperature here over the past month hasn't been that much warmer than usual. Across the rest of the west it's been absolutely insane though.

green with envy with all of you in Seattle celebrating the new transit line opening today.

Reminder that Portland hasn’t added new high capacity transit since 2015, has no plans to do so in the future, is facing massive service cuts and plans to spend billions doubling the width of I-5

I don't believe this is exactly correct, fyi. Bovino's social media was taken down several days before Mullin's appointment was confirmed by the senate.

Sometime shortly before March 19th, per my own checking his profile, versus March 24th.

It's a cool dataset :)

I haven't done much with it, but it's a fun time finding the greatest diameter street trees of various species in the city, and admiring them in Street View.

Above I had a bad screenshot, because I was trying to zoom out to get the whole city in frame, but on second glance, their presence as street trees seems to hinge on the neighborhood, which is interesting.

Next year, however, much more dire @trimet.org service cuts are expected, and then serious damage is likely to be done to either ridership or equity.

The Portland area needs leadership now to look for ways to plug this funding gap! 2/2

This winter was tied for the warmest on record in Oregon, according to data released by NOAA.

December, January and February saw an average temperature of 38.7 degrees, which tied 1934 for the warmest in records that date back to 1896.

The reasons might surprise you: tinyurl.com/4yknk56c

Surely someone could run a successful ballot measure advocacy campaign based on this...

In October, Seattle beat Portland's year-over-year light rail ridership per 'metro area' capita, for the first time in history

and soon it won't even be close 🫠

There are also a couple segments without any sidewalks that will be improved, but overall, the corridor is just very long. It's about twice as long as 82nd Ave, including the couplets.

It's nearly impossible to find specifics, because nothing from the steering committee is available archived online except for the agendas and minutes, but iirc, one contributing factor is a couple of major intersection rebuilds, made necessary by the constraint of the adjoining rail line.

Even Get Moving 2020 only ever suggested 1 mile of BAT lanes at critical intersections for the project, compared to 2 miles for 82nd Ave. It did suggest electric articulated buses, but the investment in the corridor proposed in the ballot measure was 2.5x what the project cost is today.

Honestly, TV Highway just isn't a bus priority project. It's a bus stop enhancement and pedestrian access project, with stop consolidation and signal priority as a treat, because they're cheap and unobtrusive.

Today the Oregon legislature voted to raid a puny pot of money the state uses as matching funds to apply for federal grants for modest rail improvements, directing $ instead for backlogged road maintenance

Of course leg didn’t touch the $160m of bonding money queued for a doomed $2b freeway project

I think it's worth noting that Rep. Nosse, who represents arguably the most bike- and ped-friendly district, was the one to motion to adopt the amendment that will defund Safe Routes to School, off-road trails, and rail.

The difference in scale makes it impossible not to imagine how transformational it would be to prioritize conservation to nearly the same degree. Gives the same feeling as when comparing the meager amount we spend on bike and trail networks to the sums dedicated to arterial and freeway widening.

How it started:

How it's going:

"How fern (fun)! You can see this native water plant, Pacific mosquito fern, or duckweed fern (Azolla filiculoides), growing on the mudflats at Smith and Bybee Wetlands. Sporting fluffy green leaves, the plant has transformed from an orange red mat that covered parts of the lake in spring. This is the same plant!
