Horrendous - but neccessary - understanding of the impact bad temporary accomodation can have on our children. Linked to the deaths of 104 children over the past 6 years, 76 of them babies.

I’m delighted to share that after years of campaigning alongside so many constituents as well as brilliant charities, we are now firmly on the road to stopping nuisance fireworks.
As soon as the consultation opens, I’ll be inviting Lutonians to take part.

This is a grotesque statement. Kanye West released "Heil Hitler" *less than a year ago*. No other ethnic group would ever be asked to accept this.
The managing director should be fired for this disgusting statement alone.

The government is carrying out a consultation on whether to implement tougher laws on the public sale of fireworks
MPs, including @sarahowen.org.uk and Simon Hoare, have welcomed the news, with Owen calling it a "huge step forward"
This.
I spoke to Evan Davies on PM yesterday about the question of whether we should grant licences to drill for more oil and gas in the North Sea.
Why do our second-tier cities underperform?
Why do we have fewer trams in the UK?
I try my best to give an answer to these two interconnected questions.

Cannot believe the number of people in Jonathan’s replies insisting that is in fact good left wing green policy to subsidise the fuel consumption of someone driving a Land Rover around Kensington
Too right it does.
In 26 days' time we will:
✅Abolish Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions.
✅Introduce periodic tenancies.
✅Limit rent increases to once a year.
✅Ban rental bidding and rent in advance.
✅Make discrimination against renters who have children or receive benefits illegal.
This is important. We have to level with the British public and show leadership globally.
Also - I think this is really being underplayed - if you are subsidising rich world energy consumption (let alone questions around what you are doing re domestic or business) during a fuel crisis, then you are pushing up developing world energy costs. You are - basically - going to kill poor people
Yes IME MPs tend to be extremely attuned to the concerns of their constituents. If they weren't the cuts to PIP would have happened.
Nobody has made the case for why international rules are needed better than Trump.
Even some of the formerly mainstream right who switched to Trump worship are recanting now
*stares in actual government policy*
Yes, thats us as the second best performing nation globally on climate. We were in 17th when the govt took over.
200% more expensive and a 7 year wait - get your new gas turbines here.
At least 1/3 of uk gas turbines are over 40 years old. If you want to keep gas on the system these are the costs that come with your ‘cheap gas’

Quick morning shout out to all the other freelancers who didn't even know it was the bank holiday, the whole concept having become utterly irrelevant to their lived experience.
Guardian article on the need to convene a global summit to tackle the energy crisis in the style of Gordon browns London summit in 2009 to tackle the great financial crash
Same again

Uma Kamaran MP and Josh Simons MP exchange on X about the importance of the climate crisis and the risks of drilling for more oil and gas
My colleague Uma Kamaran is right.
For the avoidance of doubt, those who are arguing for “drill baby drill” really don’t get the seriousness of the situation. We should not be falling back on technologies that damage us, our economy and our future, but rather be embracing increasingly cheap and reliable home grown renewable energy.

I signed this letter. A lot of harm has been caused by ideological approaches to birth.
“We are a democratic party and our policies are determined by our members.” is a pretty terrible way to approach health policies.
Our members - Tonia Antoniazzi MP, Jess Asato MP, Tracy Gilbert MP, Kirsteen Sullivan MP, Polly Billington MP, Sarah Champion MP, Antonia Bance MP, Katrina Murray MP, Baroness Bertin & Baroness Jenkin - have signed this important letter in today's Times 👇

I endorse this message.
📉 Wait lists have fallen again by 43k in January - 374k in 18 months.
🚑 Fastest ambulance response in 5 years, down to less than 29 mins for heart attacks and stroke
🏥 A&E waits the shortest for four years despite a hugely demanding winter
Lots done, lots more to do.
Analysis: Clean energy will cut UK gas imports by [much] more than North Sea drilling
