I think releasing it one chapter at a time is effective but having most, if not all, of it done before you start posting is a good idea.

As I post my own longfic, writing as I go, I think the challenges I’m having are 1. I get low interaction in the beginning, but it builds over time. 2. I struggle with continuity and plot-holes. 3. keeping up with a posting schedule.
