The last thing we want from Democrats is for them to advocate for anything! Horrors!

Now what?
Trump and the people surrounding him have long pushed for a theocracy, an explicitly Christian nation. These folks are completely fine and happy when religious leaders weigh in … as long as they agree with what Trump is doing. But that’s not religion. It’s a cult. Trump is treated as infallible. He is treated as wise. He is treated as if he speaks on behalf of all Americans. He is treated, apparently, as if he is just like Jesus or perhaps that he is actually Jesus. No wonder he’s mad that the pope won’t sign on.

What if Trump blockades his own blockade? Would that work?
That Peter Thiel, democracy-hating libertarian works with neo-Nazis should surprise no one.
Let's just shut Harvard down for ten years and see how much the world improves. In a decade we can decide if we want to open it again.
Don't horrible things happen on that train? Bullied by other passengers? Attacked by undead demon things? Giving money to a bigot? That kind of thing?
JD and Turk on Scrubs.
I'm guilty of that, I should be more careful. Markets are as old as human beings. Capitalism is not.
Isn't the answer: All of them?
Absolutely right. Have you read Jacob Soll's history of free markets? One lesson from that book is that there has never been a laissez-faire market economy. And even capitalists could never agree on a single idea of what capitalism is or should be. www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/jacob...
I'm expressing myself badly. I think the reason non-economists think economics = capitalism is because they see the Koch network, GMU, etc. as "economics." Professional economics therefore has a public image problem. But that is true of most academic disciplines too.
I'm still pissed about GHB Bush calling Geraldine Ferraro "Mrs. Ferraro" instead of "Representative Ferraro" during the 1984 VP debate. I mention it here so you can be pissed about it too.
Harper founded the Institute for Humane Studies which is now at GMU and part of the Koch network of think tanks. Koppelman's recent book BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE argues that Rothbard's thinking has taken over free-market thinking completely. Heterodox perhaps but still very influential.
Of course. I think when people claim that economics is nothing but apologia for capitalism, they are thinking of the public figures like Friedman.
I'm writing a book on how Milton Friedman, Murray Rothbard, F.A. Harper etc. allied themselves with segregationists, antisemites (including Holocaust deniers), and American fascists in the 1940s and 1950s. All in the name of the science of the free market.
Trump is a bigger liar than Donny Osmond was when he claimed he had "a little bit of Motown in my soul."
Kids, ask your parents or grandparents.
Well, their shadows ARE brown, after all.
Few things are less persuasive than an unsourced meme of an empirical claim.
"Despite the disproportionate attention given to the shooters’ gender identities by some of the loudest voices online, the perpetrators’ connections to extremist ideologies and subcultures were widely ignored." www.justsecurity.org/136047/no-tr...
Conspiracy 101: Trump attacked Iran to distract from Epstein. The "war" is going so badly he now trots out Melania to talk about Epstein to distract from Iran. Oh yeah, it is all comin' together.
How about "It is unimportant if there are objective moral truths."
Who do you say the truth TO in exile?
I'm gonna head down to the sports bar drink beer and talk about Javokhir Sindarov's amazing run with the guys.
