A few weeks ago, I built a new blog/gallery site.. and I've managed to update it a bit more regularly than other blogs I've built. Let's see if I keep it up:

First 24 hours back home in Illinois:

Heading home to drop the kid off in Illinois this weekend.. and hitting all the most important spots.. our favorite meat market and woodman’s. :) oh.. and getting pizza. Also hi.

I think it’s time to tap this sign again and listen to my own advice.

As it turns out… yes. That’s exactly what it needed to it more fun. I can dole things out and make tasks have deadlines or not…and people can provide feedback or a not on their experience

Me: “Oh cool.. I have a few weekends at home..”
Also me: “oh wait.. how about next weekend we drive to Atlanta.. and Illinois the following week?”
Also also me: “yea.. that works.. at least I’ll be able to go to woodmans.”

Exactly.. and putting yourself out there by choosing to do it is an incredible accomplishment on its own. You’re a rock star

but you committed to starting.. which so many people haven't done. you already did the incredibly hard part, which is pretty great.

Last weekend.. I painted a pottery.. it turned out pretty ok…

Me: "i'm going to make my journal app offer up random prompts"

the wife: "but.. i've seen the same prompts a few days in a row"

Me: <an hour later> "oh.. my seed was bad"

the wife: "...."
me: "...."
the wife: "...."
me: "...."

me: "so.. i need to rewrite how it's picking.. i made an error"

The kids are out of town.. so I’m up early because their dog doesn’t know how to sleep in.

I have started and deleted so many posts tonight. I have thoughts, but I don’t know how to express them I guess. Or I’m being really critical of the way they’re coming out of my brain and into this stupid app. So instead, you get this nonsense post.

that word was so ubiquitous it became the word i use for 'children'.. so i will refer to my kids as chitlins..

a few days in of using that photo-culler app and i've already saved a few hundred GB of space consumed by images i took at softball tournaments where i was shooting stills at 20 frames per second while someone was hitting.. or random bad images while on vacation..

and that effort was just this week.. last week.. i wrote a photo culling app.. point the app at a folder on my mac and quickly decide to keep/delete pictures.. when you're done, hit "move" and it'll move all the picture files into keep/delete folders so you can easily wipe out the 'delete' directory

what started as "can i turn this spreadsheet into a website?" has turned into "what if i let people record all their games and provide some custom scoring systems? What if i add a live tracker for things like Magic the Gathering?" and.. now ~11K lines of code later.. i have a pretty nice website

while i think i identify most as an old these days.. i'm still very much a geek at heart and a tinkerer. When keeping track of flip7 scores at family game night, i built a spreadsheet to do all the work for me.. but that wasn't sufficient.. so.. instead i built a scoring app that lives on the web.

Where am i in life? I'm working to move my calendar from Apple to Google because Google offers API access to manage the calendar.. and that feels important to me.
