that's very true. When I went to school for my first degree, schools use to run background checks on people before they even let them into the program.

Why do people gatekeep in the cybersecurity community?

B/c they're scared they are going to lose their edge.
If you want to make a difference by making a more secure and better world don't gatekeep. How will future generations learn?

I was taught that politics is disagreeing with how to address a problem, not disagreeing on whether the people suffering from the problem should be villainized.

We can negotiate on a solution to a problem. There is no middle ground on whether we should be villainizing the victims of a problem.
