Cover of Terrorizer from April 2015, featuring Satyricon on the front cover. It has a cover CD, Fear Candy 143, featuring us!
Terrorizer from April 2015 write up about the cover CD tracks. Regarding us: "There's always something satisfying about including tracks on the Fear Candy that are over 11 minutes long, and this progressive masterpiece from Dundee's Man Made Origin really hits the spot. With evident Opeth influences and the compositional complexity of Porcupine Tree, this is a tremendous piece of work that is sure to attract the interest of record labels."
Write up from Prog Mag's cover CD from March 2016. Regarding us: "Man Made Origin formed in 2008 with a vision to blend progressive rock and extreme metal, and they've certainly achieved their goals. This powerful, dynamic piece of heavy prog is ambitious and impressive."
A very big throwback to ye olde music mag times, when Antioch from our 3rd album The Divine Soulless was popping up in Terrorizer and Prog.
Were they right? You can judge for yourself right here: manmadeorigin.bandcamp.com/album/the-di...

It's the first Bandcamp Friday of the year!
If you're looking for some new prog metal (or more death/black metal with the first album), have a thing for Scottish bands, or have a few extra bucks that you just don't know what to do with, then go give these a spin.

You know our stuff's made by human hands when a rogue full stop breaks containment and causes that weird typo/auto-link thing Bluesky does.
It’s Bandcamp Friday.
If you can’t afford to buy music, drop me a message and I’ll send you some codes.
We also have a video out for this too!
Featuring our bassist Scot and the chilly winter beaches of the east of Scotland, because he had to suffer for our art.

Concept wise, this (and the EP) looks into European colonialism, how it sold the story of riches and adventure for those involved, and the reality of the damage its greed and exploitation caused.
Our latest release: Maritime!
Work for this and the upcoming EP started in 2019 but then
[SCENE DELETED]
So we picked ourselves up again in 2024, went back to the studio with Scott McLean (but not his garage), to record this.

This album had quite a few ups and downs!
Fair amount of touring which saw us play some gigs in England for the first time, a packed album launch show in Dundee, but a whole load of label nonsense we had to muck through.

This one's concept follows a warrior in the first crusade, questioning the holy war he's fighting for someone else and the reality/horrors he's facing and causing.
Side note: our singer is a big history nerd in case you couldn't tell.
Side side note: we know Deus Vult got co-opted by chuds as well
Next up was The Divine Soulless, featuring our current line up. This is a fairly dynamic record, and definitely leaning prog in song length.
For this one we worked with Scott McLean of Falloch/Ashenspire/healthyliving, recording mostly in his then garage.

This album also spawned our first music video for The Betrayal!
Filmed in Dundee Uni union while some of the band were students there and involved with one of the local metal club nights, Distorted (there's some Dundonian deep cuts for you).

Another concept album, it imagines that the Roman Empire never ended and extended to space. A general sent to quell a planet but instead encounters a new way of living built on equity and equality, free from oppression and wealth hoarding and aims to spread it via popular revolution, but is betrayed
Our second album False Consciousness, shows more of the prog metal sound we're about today.
Faith of The Verse is our usual live opener, and the album is the first appearance of Sarah Coloso, who would join the band on keys and vocals for a bit.

We don't break out songs from this album love too often, mostly as they're very old and not quite representative of who we are now, but we did add a few to our set list for a gig around it's 10th anniversary.

This is a concept album, capturing how a post-nuclear apocalypse would realise Thomas Hobbe’s concept of State of Nature – where life would be “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short” in the absence of government.
As will become apparent, our lead vocalist Max has a thing for concept albums.
Seeing as we're very new here and it is Bandcamp Friday after all, here's a wee 101 on our releases, starting with our first album State of Nature!
Recorded when the band were teenagers, this has more black/death metal elements with some prog touches.

The Dundee crab. Graffiti of a white crab on a stone wall. All hail.
A sign on a door saying: "Stay Out Tartan Paint Storage"
Did a Dundee trip for band practice again.
