Thank you, Star Trek: TNG opening credits, for preparing us for the far side of the moon

I calm myself by watching the Artemis II feed as much as I can.

Even after decades of inspiration from sci-fi shows & books, nothing compares to #ArtemisII.

I will quote Star Trek, though, the episode titled, "Ad Astra per Aspera" β€” "To the stars through hardship."

Encapsulates everything that's going on and the people getting us through it.

Watching the Artemis II launch led to starting For All Mankind (how did I miss this show?).

Watching For All Mankind will lead to watching Apollo 13 this weekend.

Apollo 13 will eventually lead to a rewatch of From the Earth to the Moon.

This is the space race in this household. πŸš€

I've heard good things about SuperPath, but balked at the fee.

Will have to check it out again.

Has anyone had success with any of the Slack groups out there for freelancers?

I've tried some, like Peak Freelance, but found little value vs. time spent in them.

A3: I don't have enough data to answer usefully.

Historically, my biggest source of qualified leads is word of mouth, followed by LinkedIn.

Almost makes sifting through LinkedInSpeak worth it.

This is good to know, thanks!

I'd think they help you stand out from the digital noise and make clients feel special. Great idea.

[Fiction] Outlines are my nemesis, as I tend to be a pantser vs. planner.

Work outlines are gold, both for client alignment and for writing speed.

1.5K is great; I'm much slower for fiction (like 300 words yesterday).

Much faster with revising because you can look forward to this at the end:

I've heard from other freelancers that work is slowing down, being canceled, ghosting, etc.

It's going to be a tough year in general, I think.

First read this as "wrote 20K words in 4 hours" 🀯

Then read "revision" β€” still very impressive!

A1: Steady and busy for Q1 but it'll slow down later in Q2.

Mostly because I engaged a retainer client with continuous projects.

Pros and cons with retainers; generally good with this one.

Not sure what's worse: a client who pays a few days late or one that uses a Byzantine payroll system that requires 90 days of help desk support to get paid. 🀷

Getting ready for a #DeltaGreen game tonight and not sure if I should prepare for:

A) Zombies
B) Aliens
C) Supernatural things
D) All of the above + time travel

This is why DG is the best game.
