Which is to say, if you are doing proper game development for a tabletop game of any sort, get yourself a power gamer or two and run small playtest campaigns. They will break shit so fucking fast in ways you didn't know were possible.

My entire philosophy with naming trans characters is my philosophy for naming all characters, and I'm usually hesitant to create deadnames for my trans characters because of the annoyance of hearing my friends deadnamed by the medical institution.

I have no idea what you're responding to, but I have seen people do similar shit with naming IRL, and my first assumption on reading that would be "either the character started by experimenting slightly and the name just stuck, and/or author could not be fucked to come up with a new character name".
