Senator, respectfully, this is unilateral disarmament. Hold the line for real concessions, and fight for us citizens in Virginia. Vote no.

Makes me think of Isaiah’s indictment of the leaders of Judah in his day, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil: who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness…*Who justify the wicked for a bribe*, and take away the rights of the ones in the right.” (Is 5:20,23)
Godly wisdom discerns when someone needs one and not the other.
This reminded me of Tom Nichols’ “The Death of Expertise”. He points out that after the OJ trial back in the 90’s the cable news networks realized people were bored with just news; what they really wanted was high-tension drama. They adapted accordingly. Hard for books, friends, hobbies, to compete
This is sorely needed considering where more and more people appear to be getting their information from.

”…there is a strong and growing sense that implicit in our blessed hope is a beatific vision, namely, that God will be fully and finally visible to his people.” - Allen, “Grounded in Heaven”
“At various high points in the divine economy we see that God is made visible to his people: in Eden, upon Sinai, in the temple, and during the ministry of Jesus…
…”According to the Father’s will, in the Son’s face, and by the Spirit’s power, the triune God images forth his invisibility.” - Allen, Grounded in Heaven
Pulling apart and looking deeply at Triune realities is pure wonder-fuel: “While only the Son was made incarnate, this occurred by the Holy Spirit and at the Father’s behest. The whole Trinity willed this effect and worked to this end…
Me, every time I eat dairy.
This is an important distinction made by Allen:
“The Son as Son is visible…but the Son as Son is visible by means of his humanity…Here Owen and the Reformed tradition are affirming with Augustine that the humanity of the Son is the instrument by which the vision of God occurs.”
“The New Testament witness points to the Christological nature of the beatific vision…‘For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ’ (2 Cor 4:6)” - Allen, Grounded in Heaven
“In the Bible, a resolute focus upon the future inflections of gospel hope seem to appear in precisely those moments when God’s people suffer the deepest pangs of hurt.” - Michael Allen Grounded in Heaven
