Anecdotally, we were approached to work on this game, but turned it down for various reasons I won't get in to here. Hope whoever worked on sound had an alright time with it.

For November’s @dwellingofduels.bsky.social contest, the wonderful @coryjohnsonvgm.bsky.social asked me to collaborate on a track from the incredible game Tunic, a cover of the piano-led “Remember To Remember”. There was going to be some room for solos from me and the other collaborators.

I truly hope the changes are for the betterment of GDC, but the response from my immediate network has largely been skepticism and bafflement. I guess we'll see how attendance numbers shake out this year.

The minimum cost of bringing our team to GDC has risen from $1500 to $3900. This is not a "reduced price", and I suspect we will deem it unjustifiable as a travel expense.

Why on earth isn't there an Expo-only option?

I'm sure a ton of people are already hesitant/reluctant to travel to the States *at all*. This can't possibly help.

Apparently conference organizers have stated that these changes are "informed and inspired by feedback from the community"... but I'd worry how many people this is going to discourage from attending - that is, if it doesn't price them out entirely.

But if my intent at GDC is to browse the Expo Floor and speak with fellow developers, what exactly is the value add here? To bring our team of 6 to GDC would no longer cost us a minimum of $1500 - it would cost $3900. Not quite "45% more affordable".
