Ugh, part of me wants to go to Anthrocon but the rooms are so expensive there's not a chance unless someone invited me to room with them. Then I see FWA where it'd be doable but pricey too.

All depends on what you're using it for and whether you're even a target worth that attention I suppose. If you are a target and it's a big deal then sure, but then they can probably just steal your phone and spy on you anyway to crack your 2FA if it's the FSB or something you're worried about.

I mean, if you're a target for international espionage I guess you'd be worried about that. Normal people aren't a target for that in the first place.

Most people don't have that secure a level of two factor identification. It's usually just a text message or an app you log into so if you didn't forget your password and you still have your email or phone number...

To have 50 different 2FA accounts tied to hardware ain't normal, anyway. 👀

Why do you have 50+ 2FA accounts you'd lose when you can keep your number after losing your phone? It's not like you get a new phone number as long as you contact your service provider...

Are they linked to your sim card/hardware? I mean, I guess losing a military grade work phone would suck.

Keep a backup, if you have insurance it's almost free to replace a phone and you can get it all done in one place without having to cancel all your cards ASAP in case they're stolen.

Plus then you don't need to worry about losing your ID around the gestapo. But I'm in the US, anyway.

But then you have to remember all the cards you had and reach out a dozen places instead of just getting a new phone.

I can keep my pictures backed up on a Google drive and I have insurance that covers lost or stolen phones so it's a no brainer that losing my wallet (and realID) is more stressful.

Phone, it's easier to replace than every credit card and ID I carry. Plus my wallet is a custom leather one I bought in Berlin at Eurofurence.

Vibe coding is just the worst. They think AI can make things faster for people but you can't trust it for shit.

Even the high end Claude models writing code don't cover return values with error codes or write MISRA compliant interfaces so security goes into the toilet.
