These two editorials by the Washington Post expose how the Republican Party and Democratic Party are held to completely different standards by the media.

Texas gerrymander: “Not a threat to democracy.”

Virginia gerrymander: “Power grab by Democrats.”

AOC talking to RFK Jr. Her facial and hand gesture has the spiritual energy of that Italian hand gesture where you pinch your fingers and wave your hand (the "ma che vuo" gesture).

Sad that Judy Greer, who reads the MC in George Saunders’s Vigil, is not *quite* up to the task. Sounds cute, gets the character, but the complexity seems to be a bridge too far, leading to jarring inflections. (A bit like certain Bridgertons who admit they have no effing idea what they are saying.)

We were focused on crumbling infrastructure and disaster planning, but i could never not vote my conscience, and do a lot of GOTV every cycle. (Jokes on me about conscience: if I had taken a DOD job I’d be retiring with full bennies. Would hate myself but … LOLSOB)

I started coming home, a day for laundry and groceries, and returning to work ***on a Wednesday***. Makes that first week back so much less awful. You spend those three days on email and fires before people realize you’re back and new crap on you — because no one comes back on a Wednesday.

On arrival from the golden state I tried so hard but couldn’t bear confederate flags or open carry (or bridges between office and home) so we opted for the other side of the Potomac. (Y’all need to work on services for K-12 disabled kids, too). It was tempting, but TYVM for your service! 🫡

This fact is a day old, so I Propose a toast.

Mayor Mamdani and a group of children hold hands while running through red tape in a hallway.

Mayor Mamdani and a group of children hold hands while running through red tape in a hallway.

For too long, bureaucracy kept 7 child care centers across our city empty — spaces that should have been alive with laughter instead collected dust.

We've run through that red tape. This fall, all 7 will open their doors, bringing an additional 240 free 3-K seats & real relief to working families.

In February 1777, General George Washington ordered the first mass immunization campaign in American history by mandating that his troops be inoculated against smallpox. He protected the Continental Army from an epidemic that was deadlier than British forces.

249 years later, we have this idiot.

It *IS* very, very bad. I’ve had the pleasure of taking writing workshops with many USAID staff who were riffed alongside myself and HHS colleagues. Ppl who have new jobs are: early career, moved to state gov jobs, or left public service entirely. We are all still grieving.

“But elsewhere”, as the kids like to say, is doing a lot of lifting in that sentence.

OH FOR FUCK’s SAKE. Legacy media really is dead, people. Beyond feckless. As self-serving as the authoritarians whose hems they kiss. Disgusting.

Absolutely not. However, this is one of a rare few beliefs that are shared amongst my liberal and fascist family members.

Alex excels at avoiding consequences in ways that mere mortals could only dream of. Great work from Anna, as always.

Doctors: ADHD medicines are clutch! Also doctors: pay no attention to the series of hurdles we’ve carefully constructed and the litigation-proofed msgs that 100% contradict what we told you IRL in our Machiavellian scheme to nudge you out of our practice so we don’t have to actually deal w/ you. ♿️

AI ruins so much.

Wait until you learn about “vegetative electron microscopy.”

This is a powerful response. Thank you for underscoring what feels so awful about it, and providing concrete alternatives.

My heart — and a raised fist of solidarity — go to the family who stripped off that killer’s name from their beloved.

Exactly.

This is why Nancy Metayer's family removed Bowen from her last name and used her maiden name after she was murdered by the man she was married to.

Radical and POWERFUL.

Her killer should forfeit the right to posthumously possess her.

If you kill your wife, you don't get to be a husband anymore Some lessons from the media coverage of Dr. Cerina Fairfax and Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer's murders.

My latest.

I’ve been watching the media coverage of the murders of Dr. Cerina Fairfax and Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer.

One way media can fight back against male violence:

If you kill your wife, you don’t get to be called a “husband” any more.

You’re her killer.

the thing about our current moment is that yes, the anti-AI and anti-big tech people are getting very reactive nowadays - but have you seen what they’re *reacting* to?

*Helping* the already-on-board. Autocorrupt.

Reaching everyone sounds nicer but it’s not efficient. And also: fuck those people. Anyone who isn’t yet convinced that GOP is the biggest threat is both a shitty person and probably not a reachable target. Save your strength. Do smarter work.
