My first Phantasy Star game! The generational aspect of its story was so intriguing to me. And there was always excitement about who I'd meet next generation, how things would have changed in the world.

Here's a lower barrier entry to the hentai stuff I sometimes talk about. I mean, if you don't want to just search for the hentai tag in my posts, which will probably show you much more explicit filth
I do usually label adult content, so you should be good if you moderate those
A snap of a grainy illustration of Naga The Serpent looking over her shoulder and delivering a cheeky wave with a readout of the current UK time in a Mac System Software Window against the backdrop of a Japanese home in cartoonish artwork.

Yeah! Alpha Centauri was one of my first brushes with that kind of esoteric science and transhumanism.

Good yuri to y'all
It was more we got the Mega CD instead as that was one of the reasons along piracy concerns it never released. But it is, yeah.
It's worth noting that it never released, regardless of its coolness and not a whole lot then looked like this even then; most external floppy drives were just beige boxes.
You can still get plenty of cool looking stuff on the 3D printed tech side.
I feel this :( I dream at least once per night but they're almost always anxiety dreams or just weirdly unpleasant in some way.

Mega Drive games on floppy disk? Productivity, artwork, game expansions, and DLC when combined with the Mega Modem?
Just a few potential uses of the unreleased Sega Mega Drive Floppy Disk Drive.
Showcased in 1989, it would have been a Sony-Sega co-pro and used proprietary 2" floppies.
A snap of Eye of the Beholder for PC-98, with stylized compass, movement arrows, party boxes (Parn, Ghim, Deedlit, and Woodchuck), and a dungeon-eye view of a sewer tunnel with red brick walls, and three kobolds ahead, armed and fierce, with one leaping up to deliver curving slash.

Always had a soft spot for Aerobiz, the only classic Koei simulation game I've put real time into.

A photo pulled from a website archive of the cube white and blue glossy subwoofer with a glowy vertical strip on one side. The nunchuck speakers are either side of it, and the subwoofer and Wii are nestled in the grey stand
The Wide Wii of 2008: 4gamers' officially licensed 2.1 speaker system and base.
Retailing for £70, it also included a Wiimote that functioned as a remote for it, and, as we can see, nunchuck styled satellite speakers.

Ohhh, right, yeah! Randnet had completely slipped my mind. Yeah, they really did.
Oh, yeah! Just muddy wording on my part, didn't mean to imply the Saturn didn't have much like the PS1. I'd only heard about the printer and word processor about the Saturn, hadn't seen a pamphlet for it like this, so appreciate you sharing it.
xD I'm sure some of that would have happened, yeah.
Yeah! It's very much a fascinating what-if. And kinda the opposite of some of our computer manufacturers tried to do with (unsuccessfuly) consolizing their microcomputers.
Piracy concerns are of the recorded reasons, yeah. That and the Mega CD and wanting to focus on that instead.
What Sony wanted to do with the PS2 early on is particularly fascinating, with them gunning to have it become the entertainment hub in the home beyond its DVD drive and replace your computer with having Linux kit etc. Didn't last much past 2000 though.
Yeah, very much so. Japanese consoles that didn't dabble in it are kinda the exception. I haven't seen much yet with the PlayStation to make it do other things like its predecessors and the Saturn, beyond things like VCDs and MP3 attachments. Don't think Net Yaroze counts, too much whole PC reliant.

From the Famicom and SG1000 Right up to the PS2 and GameCube, there was the prevailing philosophy that consoles would evolve and expand into hybrid computers. Nintendo cooled on it after the Super Famicom, but Sega were still convinced they'd be online entertainment hubs with the DC.

Ahh, yes it was! And yeah, it really is <3 It's one of the few games where I prefer playing the base game without the expansion.
Same here. It's one of the games on at least one playthrough of it a year rotation for me.
