I seem to be struggling with some grief that has caught me unawares. I got through my mums death without crying once but it’s catching up. I won’t inflict myself upon you all so I really will bugger off for a bit. I’m glad I’ve got some work to be on with until I ride it out.
See ya, kind people.

An old colour photograph of a little boy (me) in a red jumpsuit and green knitted hat and a woman (my mum) with long brown hair and brown coat. They are sat on some sort of playground ride which is just out of view. A park on a cold looking autumnal day.
Me and my Ma way back in 1975.
@deborahsnell.bsky.social Hello Deborah, good to see you here, thanks for the follow 👊🏻
It’s rubbish being a rubbish bloke sometimes.
Stuff going on & the flood gates open the first time since my mum died in August…a weight is lifted but the worries remain…I’ll take that, I wish I could open up more often.
I’m bad at sticking to this, I’m supposed to just be posting original artwork to try and earn some money.
Anyway, I’ll try again. Thankfully Bluesky is helping out by behaving like an old calculator you’ve found in a muddy puddle.
A poster for the 25th anniversary showing if Amelie. A stylised illustration of a Parisian street scene with Amelie standing in the middle. Characters, locations and moments from the film depicted around her.
Went to see this at the cinema this evening. 25 years since I first saw it 🤯.
Poster illustration by Javi Aznarez.
I heard he spent some time in jail? what’s he building in there? 🤔
A box of oil pastels and nice brush pen that is packaged in a wooden box on my desk.
When I finish this spooky ghosty work that I’m doing this year I’m gonna make a mess with these that I’ve found in a drawer. I’ve had them for years & not got around to using them, I feel like experimenting and going off road! *
*this will take some time, I’m very happily busy at the moment 👍🏻
Low saturation drawing of a barn owl. The owl is looking to the right, and has a petals from a decaying sunflower around the back of it's head. The background of the image is dark.
Graphite pencil study of the character 'Sister Ruth' from the 1947 film Black Narcissus. A woman in a nun's outfit looks beyond the viewer with a haunted look in her eyes, she has a very slight smile on her face.
A watercolour painting I did of a path winding off into the distance. The light is that of a hazy winter afternoon. Either sides of the path on the horizon are what looks like hills that form a valley, the sky colour on the right is a warm yellow sky as the sun dips behind the hill. The light is hazy, and suggests the time of day is in the afternoon, the sky colour on the left still has hints of blue. This is watercolour, then touched up with acrylic.
Graphite pencil drawing on moleskine paper of a Little Owl. The owl is perched on a surface and is full of attitude, looking intently to the viewers left. Background plain grey.

We took my mum to see Clannad in York 11/12 years back. She loved them. Farewell to Moya Brennan. This was a favourite of my mums.

Thank you, Elizabeth. I really appreciate your email too. We will get it to you safe & sound, I promise! 😉👍🏻
Cheers, Jonathan! I really appreciate that 👊🏻
I haven’t tried them yet, I’ll have a look. It’s nerve wracking sending original artwork but I’ve got my fingers crossed I get it sorted soon. Cheers, Jonathan 👍🏻
Yep, it is proving to be difficult. Hopefully I’ll get it sorted soon 👍🏻😉
Thanks, Jonathan. Yep, I’ve seen that the signed for service has dropped away. I’m sending original artwork so I’d really like the security of a signature. Also to insure it and trust that they’d honour it & be upfront about tariffs, it seems these are a trio holy grail of requirements! 🫤
Cheers, Dave. Much appreciated.
Thank you for the reposts and replies to this. Finding a courier who require a signature, insure the package & are upfront about fees and tariffs is proving to be a real head scratcher. It’d be easier to take the package myself!
Hello. I have a question for artists/illustrators…I’m searching for a trustworthy delivery company to send original artwork to the US from the UK. I’d like a service that requires a signature on arrival with the recipient & upfront tariff information.
Any info much appreciated.
Cheers.

Good stuff. Yep, it’d be good to meet up, I’m mostly free and happy to catch a train into the Dales (in fact it’d be nice to get some fresh air!).
A black pen in a crosshatch technique and black block printing ink applied with a roller on off white paper Illustration of a man on a bicycle. The man is stationary with his bike on an isolated country lane, he stands looking over his shoulder at a dark and foreboding sky above a flat and featureless landscape. Sunlight ahead of him casts his shadow on the road. He wears clothing from the Edwardian era, flat cap, shirt & tie, pullover, jacket and a leather bag over his shoulder. The bicycle is an old fashioned delivery bike with a wicker basket on the front, mud guards and a lamp above the handlebars. He is cycling into a bright day, away from the gloom behind him.

A black and white with tones of grey illustration on off white paper. Two male figures sit on a cart being pulled by horse towards a large dark Victorian house. The house is situated on a small island at the end of a causeway. The track is muddy, damp and clumps of seaweed line either side. Weak winter sunshine streams from behind grey clouds shining on the slate roof of the house. The house has a sinister and foreboding atmosphere.
Another unpublished rough for The Woman in Black.

An illustration of a woman in black standing amongst headstones and the ruins of an abbey. A marshy landscape separates her from a large and looming Victorian house in the near distance, a figure of a man stands before the house. The woman is seen from behind, the male figure in the distance faces her. A misty, foggy atmosphere pervades the scene, a haunting. Black pen and printing ink on off white paper.
Another illustration that I made for The Woman in Black. This was the very early days of the project and I thought this was a little too…literal but it did set the tone for the following illustrations.

An illustration of a woman in black funeral clothing standing amongst tall wind blow grasses and reeds. She appears to emerge from the reeds of an estuary or marshland, behind her a stormy sky, big clouds outlined by sunlight, her face is only partially visible as a veil covers head head. A suggestion of a dark Victorian house in the distance. Moody and atmospheric. A black fine line pen is placed next to the illustration.
