To be fair to the developers of the Super Famicom port, that was made by a small team under what must have been very stressful circumstances. The project lead was Kazuhiro Aoyama, who was an amazing (although uncelebrated) programmer, but even he couldn’t work a miracle.
After more than 15 incredible years of making Gaming Historian, I’m moving on to new creative adventures. Thank you for an unforgettable, life-changing journey. I will cherish it forever!

Ōedo Daikaiten feels like it was one of several attempts to give the series the curtain call it deserved, but the developers weren’t ready yet or Konami simply didn’t give them the resources to make something worthy.
Sore Yuke suffered somewhat unfairly due to the conditions in which it was released. If it had been released a few years before and not structured for the Satellaview it would probably be remembered more fondly.
I hope the Daishūgō port is able to add mouse controls to make the experience better.
Sore Yuke Ebisumaru will finally be given a second chance with the release of the Daishūgō compilation, but what about Ōedo Daikaiten? Will we ever see a re-release of the PlayStation entries?

Of course, history is a bit more complex. The problem lay with how Konami viewed Goemon and the franchises from their Famicom days. Akogingu feels like a personal project by staff in the PlayStation division which should have been more carefully considered, and given more resources.
The game was released on the same day as Biohazard/Resident Evil in Japan, and it is tempting to make them symbols of the status of Konami and Capcom. Konami was falling behind as Capcom rushed ahead in the next generation.
An eventful anniversary for the first Goemon game on the PlayStation. Happy 30th anniversary to Ganbare Goemon~Uchū Kaizoku Akogingu~.🎉🤡
