In trying to build up my physical media collection I've learned that many musicians don't release physical CDs anymore. Boo!

I dislike that front facing cameras default to mirroring the image. I don't want a mirror image!! I want to read the text on the book you're holding!

I wish I could hug myself from 10 years ago. I've come such a long way.

It took me a while to realize also but you don't have to explain -- just say "I'm out sick" and be done with it.

I've gotten much better at it but I still have to give myself a little pep talk when I call out sick from work. "Okay, Katherine. No one's going to be mad at you. All they're going to think is 'Oh I hope she feels better.' And what are you going to do after this? Lie down."

One positive of Boston having streets built for horses is that it's hard to imagine Waymo ever working here.

I'm stepping away for awhile. The news about SNAP, the election, dealing with my sudden unemployment, is all just a little too much today.

Please, please if you see this, share it. We're $1770 short for November. Every dollar pitched in helps! Thank you, friends πŸ’œ. I'm sorry.

I think it's funny we came full circle so quickly on wireless headphones. In 2019 I remember feeling embarassed wearing airpods bc it was considered cringy. Now I'm seeing people baffled that people are wearing wired ones.

PSA: Please remember to wear a well-fitting mask when you’re at the pharmacy getting vaccinated (or are there for any other reason). I really appreciate anyone taking a step to protect themselves by getting vaccinated, but you put yourself at unnecessary risk if you don’t wear a mask while doing so.

It's the fifth anniversary of my cat Piper's death. Losing her to cancer in 2020 was really traumatic. At the beginning of that year I was planning to quit my job and move to SF. Instead I went through a breakup, lost my emotional support cat, and can't risk moving anymore.

Do you count picture books toward your yearly reading goal? I do, because life is short and kids' books are lovely.

One of my first jobs was writing metadata for digitized photos and perhaps consequentially I think writing alt text is fun.

Spencer Tracy (left) and Katharine Hepburn (right) stand in front of a giant computer (like the size of a room big, this was the 50s). Hepburn has a hand on her hip and looks like she's going to maybe yell at him.

Desk Set (1957): badass librarian Hepburn meets computer guy Spencer Tracy who is looking to automate her job. She proves that librarians are more efficient than his computer, which kinda explodes, and they fall in love. As a librarian I obviously love this one.

Bringing Up Baby (1938): Hepburn acquires a leopard and bullies paleontologist Cary Grant into helping her with it. Her dog steals his prized fossil and they chase both after fossil and leopard. At one point Grant dons a fluffy bathrobe and exclaims "I just went gay all of a sudden!"

Movie poster for The Philadelphia Story (1940). Image at the top shows Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart each kissing one of Hepburn's cheeks. Image at the bottom, below the title, Hepburn reclines on the laps of Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, and John Howard.

The Philadelphia Story (1940): my favorite movie of all time. Stars Hepburn, Cary Grant, *and* Jimmy Stewart as divorced heiress Hepburn prepares to remarry. Grant is her ex-husband and Stewart is a reporter sent to cover the wedding. Hijinx ensue; I could probably recite the whole script.

Two images of Katharine Hepburn head to toe in shiny fabric. She has cape and antennae. In the first photo she holds the edges of the cape out like wings. In the second she's sitting, looking down at her hands.

Christopher Strong (1933): Katharine plays a pilot who falls in love with someone else's gross husband. The costumes were excellent and the director was a lady (Dorothy Azner). That's about all it's got going for it besides Hepburn.

I'm endeavoring to watch all of Katharine's Hepburn's movies because I need a distraction from, well, everything. I am not going to watch them in order because I am a chaos agent with no patience.

It's the last day of #PrideMonth and I would once again like to talk about the itchio bundles we put together for #PrideBookFair.

I put a lot of time into organizing these with Cara Nox, gathering 100+ authors and creating both a big bundle and smaller one, ALL QUEER BOOKS.
