This is actually real, before 3rd party characters were a consistent expectation they were throwing so many more bizarre first party characters at us. ROB, Ice Climbers, Mr Game and Watch, Wii Fit Trainer. We got Piranha Plant in Ultimate but that felt like an exception rather than the norm now.

I just learned about this relatively recently (thanks to the fellow Topic Lords who pointed me in the direction of Insert Credit and by proxy the game), but having put in ~4 hours today already, it is truly a delight.
