You've earned that showing up because of so many different things you've done. I'm just sorry I didn't see your request until long after it was filled. And I am confident I am not alone. There are many of us who would love a way to repay all you've given and keep giving.

I have so many thoughts about this but mostly I appreciate Shana saying it. It means a lot to know people see this reality.

Sometimes people have an easy and obvious way to show how much they respect and love you.

I’m no cook but I’m confident my fabulous husband could definitely make this happen! Thanks!

Oh man, we got to spend two weeks in Egypt several years ago and this was one of the greatest surprises. So delicious!

I'm going to aim for both of these things because we could all use some help these days. I appreciate the nudge in the right direction.

It took me a minute to realize that was the Onion. It was so believable.

That doesn't seem little to me.

Sending our love and positive thoughts to you and Leslie.

I am sorry for the pain your professional organization is causing you but it made me laugh and I appreciate that.

As one who is also all of those things, damn straight. It is so tough.
I shouldn't be surprised, but here are we are.

I don't do nearly the amount of this that you do, but the little I've done makes me want to raise my rates just to cover the frustration and time involved in this aspect.

@anniekarni.bsky.social Super wild. Whoa.

My youngest was in 7th grade and is now in their first year of college. Which should have made the math easy for me, but I am still just astounded by time. How long ago and like yesterday it feels.

I hope the college visits continue to go well!

I just sat here and did the math because I could not believe you. You have never steered me wrong but this just hit so hard I couldn't accept it.

There are so many fewer people writing publicly (blogging, really, is what I mean) and I still enjoy those who do. Right now I'm feeling much gratitude to @edifiedlistener.bsky.social for the fact that she keeps writing and for how much her writing resonates with me.

Or not. But you do deserve awards. Whether or not they're worth the work is a whole other question.

College admissions (like so many other things in our society) are based, mostly, on very specific things that not everyone is good at. We miss a lot of awesome folks as a result.
(My college GPA was under 3.0. My professional career in education is not, I think, what that would have predicted.)

Because, lord have mercy, wouldn't it be lovely to actually care if it works or not.
But that would require us to be thoughtful about how we decide if something works.

The answer is yes.

Just in case I haven't mentioned it recently, I adore you. Thank you for this quick thread. It brought me immense joy on this Friday afternoon.

Red Notice! That movie is so absurd. I am totally here for it but I know many folks aren't.
I am having trouble making Deadpool make sense, I think. But I'm definitely seeing your point!

I am going to have to think on this one. I'm not totally convinced but I am also not certain I disagree.

Late last year, the US experienced the longest government shutdown in the country's history over GOP efforts to cut $70 billion in annual ACA subsidies.

The US is now fighting a war, launched with zero public debate, that costs roughly $11 billion dollars per week.

I've been wondering this same thing.
I love outside of DC. I've known for years that I'm likely just far enough away from the city that I'll die slowly rather than in the blast if it happens. Other than get out of town, what could I be doing right now?

I am not a sports person (I have many issues with competitive sports at various levels in our country) but my alma mater just won the DIII Men's Championship Basketball game and I have to admit it feels good.

And wandered a bit of Legoland together, if I remember correctly. (Our kids were young so my memories are definitely impacted by that.)
