Now imagine that every tall mountain and deep ocean is but a minuscule fraction of the thickness of the atmosphere. Really makes you think.

I'm looking for experts with practical experience repairing large appliances to participate in a brief poll that I'll be using for a few future CNET articles. #journorequest

When you have an audience or a business you have to ensure that you always provide a lot more value to people than you extract from them. If you don't then, long term, it all breaks down.
Young people I talk to today...they feel like the whole entire world has broken this contract with them.
So you're saying that the Grinch is part python? Or is the spirit of Christmas some kind of ultra-potent cocktail of fatty acids?
Might need a blood sample to test these hypotheses.
Cat under red blanket, which makes him look like he's wearing a shawl.
Cloud is normally very photogenic, but today he's on another level.
0.5 liter bottle of Kofola, a Czech soft drink, on a bamboo desk with houseplants in the background
Nothing like a cold Kofola on a cold winter morning. Na zdraví!
Got to see a few of Alfonse Mucha's works during a museum visit today. Amazing how many of his most iconic images are basically ads for stuff like plays, cigarettes, biscuits and bicycles.
And it makes sense when you see how big some of his posters are. Definitely designed to catch the eye.
That said, technicalities like these don't mean that other good products/brands aren't out there, just that they require more research than a typical publishing timeline permits.
From what I've seen, F&P is a solid option and I've heard many good things. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Also as far as I can tell, the brand has a limited footprint for Washers in the U.S. They aren't even listed on the U.S. F&P website.
(Geographic bias can be tough with online reviews, especially when so many publishers are based in the U.S.)
If you're referring to Front vs Top, that was looking mostly at CNET's current lineup for which F&P didn't make the cut due to limited representation in the online retail/customer review/pricing data I was using.
Hell yeah! Rooting for you!
Indie Music Critics and Journalists? Come on, I know I'm not that far off the standard deviation for tech journalists.
Still, cool experiment I guess.
Starlink says it may also share personal data with partners to help it "develop AI-enabled tools that improve your customer experience.”
journalists are workers who deserve to be paid fairly for our labor and I think that far too few consumers of media recognize or even care about this fact
Let's do this.

I can attest that it was a lot of math (fridge efficiency regulations can be a headache).
Data journalism isn't always glamorous, but I have fun with it.
Fun experiment, mixed results.
Cat laying on a man's lap under desk in home office. Using the man's arm as a pillow.
Not only does this beast insist on cramming himself onto a lap that barely fits under my desk, he has also co-opted my left arm as a pillow.
Productivity is down in my office, but morale is high, so I'll allow it for now. #cat #catsofbluesky
Making matters worse is the longer name and higher syllable count. People are still going to call it Office to avoid saying/typing it out.
(Probably even internally at Microsoft, unless there's a BS corporate edict.)
Reminds me of the time that Ford lost a ton of money by renaming the Ford Taurus as the Ford Five Hundred.
Microsoft can probably coast somewhat on its recurring subscription fees, but I predict a drop in sales due to sheer customer confusion.
Shoutout to @deadtechnology.bsky.social for inspiration about the back of the card text. Can't emphasize enough that coverage is never guaranteed for freelancers.
Front and back of white business cards on mousepad.
Got new business cards ahead of #CES2026. It's been a while since I last attended, but I'm excited.
(I'll be there from Jan 4 to Jan 7.)
I cannot emphasize this enough: Honey (and apparently so many other coupon extensions) are major privacy and economic threats that you should uninstall immediately. Big shoutout to MegaLag for Part 2 of this investigation, which came out today.
Journalism relies heavily on standardized writing styles to keep articles and stories accessible to readers.
It's no wonder that 100% human articles in a highly-regimented professional style are quite good at triggering a false-positive in an AI detector.
To be absolutely clear, AI deserves its share of criticism, but AI detectors have to be the dumbest content tools in existence.
Journalists: Write online articles using best practices before AI exists.
AI: Trains on said articles.
Journalists: Ignore AI and continue to write as they always have.
AI Detectors:
While I hold some nostalgia from using the Sears catalog as a kid to make Christmas lists, the decline of Sears is an inevitable result of shareholder-first business strategies.
It's a cautionary tale that complacent pursuit of profit mustn't outweigh innovation.
And no one is listening.
As someone whose cat seems to collapse with a sock on his back, it's nice to see the other end of the spectrum.
Reminds me a bit of Heinrich Schliemann, who indiscriminately used dynamite to excavate Troy.
As vital as early archeologists were for pioneering their field, they sure did a lot of damage.
