Juno and Cassini are the best things the USA has ever done, I will not be taking questions at this time. Yall better leave dragonfly the fuck alone. If you think I'm militant about police budgets just try and fuck with solar exploration.

Again I have loved following the artemis mission. I love the astronauts, I have so much love and respect for the ground team. The way artemis is being used as cover for coming for NASAs robotic scientific missions makes me want to fight
In America, the police defund you.
No idea if this will do anything but it makes me happy
A "text message" from Gemini "Hi I'm Gemini in Google Messages. Chat with me to draft messages, brainstorm ideas, plan events or simply have a gun conversation"
A pop that says Block Gemini? Options are cancel or yes

*injustice of it
It's a misdemeanor to be in a park at night here! Far from the biggest I justice of it, but I want to do amateur astronomy in the park and I don't think I should go to jail for it
bsky.app/profile/guyj... so far it's excellent, no idea about the historical accuracy but I'm enjoying the hell out of it
Saw a job posting for a "CETI executive director" and read it as a SETI executive director and got excited for a minute
To be blunt I actually don't want to make it cheaper for our society to hold people in jail. It should be expensive to lock people up. In custody means in care of. We are responsible for these people. We should set basically all of them free, but if we lock them up we should expect it to cost us
Also, renting our jail space out to the federal government (US marshals) is in the current context an act of profiteering off of ethnic cleansing.
Their hands in the air and say how could this happen when our jail budget explodes? Give me a break. We are holding people for lack of 250 dollars for bail. This is unjust, does nothing for public safety, and yes is also really expensive. End cash bail, stop arresting people for being poor.
If the city of Spokane wants to stop spending so much money on locking people up, rather than renegotiate the contract for the jail with the county, they should lock fewer people up. The mayor and City council love to invent new misdemeanors and use SPD to solve every problem then wants to throw
And *snarky not sparky
So much of this IS in the city's control. If you don't want to spend money on holding people in jail, you could for example stop arresting people for being poor
I'm trying really hard not to be sparky about this but the obvious answer would appear to be to stop inventing new misdemeanors and end cash bail so that people aren't being held pre trial for a lack of in some cases 250 dollars
Reading this got the song stuck in my head

Me a fool from a few days ago: Spokane is the way it is because of choices
Me today, much wiser and more well read: yes, choices that resulted in the city being Haunted and repeatedly cursed (and deservedly so) over its history
The first element was basically the effects of the Chinese exclusion act and that cemeteries (multiple) were destroyed and built over with only two bodies being removed and reburied.
Getting all my spokane history from a ghostology book, sorry in advance about all the policy debates I'm gonna win
The second important element key to understanding the ghosts of Browne's addition is historical in nature and deals with the character of the individuals who typically (but of course not exclusively) listed after having a status mansion in the subdivision during the last period of the American Victorian Era called the "Gilded Age". The gilded age of the 1890s through about 1910 was a period in American history dominated by gross political corrupti9n, corporate dirty dealing, and heavy handed industrial crime and exploitation of workers - unparalleled until the first two decades of the 21st century. Spokane was the American poster child of.the gilded age, and there are many monuments to that Age's greed and corruption throughout thr city, including
"Unparelleled until the first two decades of the 21st century" written in 2013, this is very correct
After this initial series of lynching, the cavalry continued its reign of terror following Latah Creek north into the modern Citt of Spokane in a "scorched earth canpaign" against the Spokane tribes, hanging captured warriors encountered along the way beside the creek.
Seriously, this book kicks ass. Way more direct language regarding US history than anything I read in Washington State history 30 years ago. Author said fuck the feds and he's right!
