Yui the Hedgehog design.

Yui is a living star, born before the ARK had risen to space. They were a few months old when it did & would always see Maria through one of the many windows to look down on earth. Eventually, she started bringing Shadow with her. Hence, why they took the form of a hedgehog. Shadow was sent to Earth by Maria, to which Yui tried to save him, but G.U.N. had caught him first. Yui usually is emotionless/expressionless & doesn't feel much due to being a star. It'd be an awfully rare accurance for Yui to show anything other than their usual face. After some time of connecting with Shadow at some point, he started to consider Yui as a sibling, seeing how they'd grow fond of seeing Maria through the window of the ARK. It also wasn't long until Yui met YuYu.

YuYu the Sea Bunny design.

Unlike Yui (the living star), who was born in space, YuYu was born in the sea. Yui is a star who is disguised as a hedgehog after seeing Shadow on the ARK, while YuYu is an unidentified/unknown, mystic creature of the sea. They take the form of a sea bunny to seem harmless, yet is a level high creature of danger since their body is poisonous - which is why they are almost completely covered, leaving a small portion of their thighs open to touch anyone whom they consider a threat to them. If anyone were to touch their slightly revealed thighs, YuYu will use their abilities to heal them. Unlike Yui, who has told most of Sonic & his friends (Shadow included of course), no one knows of YuYu's true nature &/or origins. No one would even gain a single hint of what YuYu really is, so they just learn to go with it or fall deeper into the mystery.
