I'm reading The Vorrh, which has very fluid POV at times. I know I'd be accused of 'head hopping' if I wrote like that. But it works fine, and I like the dynamic nature of it.

A Series of Illusions by Kate Berry

Something creepy and alarming for your reading pleasure.

A Series of Illusions is a short story I wrote a few years ago partly based on my days as a squatter. Honestly, I had worse comedowns than this back then. Enjoy.

You're welcome. And well done for finishing The Silmarillion. It's a challenging book, if ever there was one.

There is an incredibly good audiobook read by Martin Shaw when he just glides through all those difficult pronunciations like Elvish is his mother tongue.

I like horror, it seems to come naturally, weirdly. I'm currently elbow deep in a fantasy though, and will be for the foreseeable future. My only publication so far is a children's story. I tend to go where the inspiration takes me.

I did learn about her as much as possible, and she is a faithful representation, as far as I can make her. I was lucky to have an extensive library to trawl for my research and found a lot of gems about her and Romanian folklore too (the book is set in Wallachia).

For this interested in ancient #folklore, The goddess Lamashtu features in my #Gothic #horror #novella (which I’m looking to get published, btw), and I just found this fascinating article about her and her significance in #Assyrian society.

Your welcome. Be wary of using unverified quotes, but especially those attributed to Orwell. His name is evoked by all manner of propagandists for the intellectual and cultural weight it bears.

It was not fabricated by Orwell. It was wrongly attributed to him.

Is it? Is it not a bit too black and white? Bit of an over simplification? Bit polarising? Why might someone erroneously attribute this sentiment to Orwell? Just things to consider.
