The ethnographic museum in Zielona Góra feels like a fairytale. Gorgeous little 18th century houses line a picturesque street, each decorated in its own style. There are many displays showing shops, workshops and farming equipment, as well as gorgeous folk wear.
Yesterday we went to the archaeological museum at Santok. Between the 7th and 13th centuries there was a thriving walled city here at the intersection between old Poland, Pomerania and Brandenburg on the banks of the Warta River. It was first excavated in the 1930s, but excavations continue.

When I lived in Moscow and I heard fireworks in the night, I feared they would be bombs. Here in Poland I hear explosions in the night and I know they're munitions from the nearby military base. Strange how the thought is comforting.

My seasonal depression depends on which hemisphere I'm in. I only get it if I'm in the southern hemisphere in August or September. Northern hemisphere summers don't have the same effect on me.
