so I was cleaning up an old HD and discovered an art project I started in 2010 and abandoned called HOT PRESIDENTS

NASA just dropped this image of Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch looking back at us. The first woman to ever see our planet in its entirety. I’m not crying you’re crying 🥹🔭🧪 📸: NASA
And, I can accept that I did not have perfect Backup hygiene. I was just preaching to someone at work about how we needed a better backup strategy for all of our files besides GDrive. It's the response to my "customer service" attempt that really shocked/enraged me.
Sadly… I don't think so. I know I know. Through several moves, some old hard drives were lost or tossed. Dumb. Never rely on the cloud.
I'm shellshocked. @dropbox.com deleted 2 decades worth of my files including tons of my art. I emailed support to get help recovering the files. I got an automated reply telling me that if I wanted any chance of assistance, I was welcome to pay for a higher tier of service. Damn that's cold.
illustration inspired by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's 1891 short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" depicting a woman touching sickly yellow torn wallpaper on a wall while shadowy hands reach toward her. There is another tall shadow of a figure on the wall and both figures look toward the viewer.
"The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight."
I made a "Yellow Wallpaper" piece back in 2017, but I re-read the story over the weekend and wanted to try again. Much happier with this version 🖤
There are men
My first thought is this is a weird entry in the TERF culture war? Like why? Also LOL

Maybe she was just caught up in the zeitgeist, the 90's were a decade crazed by human/cartoon romance...Space Jam, Cool World anyone?
So here's another thing that the EU does better than the USA: The EU’s GDPR allows for fines up to "4% of global annual turnover." For Meta, a 4% fine based on 2025 revenue of $200.97B would be $8.04B. I guess that's what it would take to actually make anyone on Meta's leadership team start caring.
In case anyone else is curious, I learned that the amount is determined based on specific statutory limits. In this case, the jury found Meta committed thousands of violations of New Mexico’s "Unfair Practices Act" and the maximum civil penalty is $5,000 per violation. pubs.nmsu.edu/_g/G224/inde...
In thinking about this, I wondered, what would a meaningful amount actually look like and why doesn't Meta have to pay it?
Finding Meta liable for the vast harms they knowingly and purposefully caused is good. Great even! I'm excited and happy about that! But, when the punishment is so laughably low, it feels like less of a real deterrent and more of a "cost of doing business" line item. Lame! Not helpful!
—does the amount $375M seem super disappointingly low to anyone else? Like for a company siphoning HUNDreDS of BILLIONS of dollars from our economy does $375 million mean anything? I feel like, no?
This week has been pretty good in that a jury has ordered Meta to pay $375m in civil penalties after it found the company misled consumers about the safety of its platforms and enabled harm, including child sexual exploitation, against its users. HOWEVER— www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
Your regular reminder that we live in hell but we don't have to and we can unmake this whenever we want.
Anytime!!!! Thanks for the fantastic preview write up, so glad you enjoyed the game 🤘
