Real!! The only thing he thought about when separated from Ingo was battle. Which is good, but we already know he likes battles! At least Ingo gets to be worried about his little brother... maybe they tried to show Emmet as being too focused to notice things? Like a train moving only on one track...

That being said, maybe Emmet appears in future games and gives his usual lines new context. Would be nice
It feels like Emmet's dialogue is less.. meaningful, really.
I mean, he literally is less of a character — he doesn't have a role comparable to Ingo's in any media. He's stuck with the verrry few lines he has in BW/BW2, while Ingo pulls a ton from his appearance in PLA.
Kind of sad for my boy...
