Currently I’m in a “it’ll be finished when it’ll be finished”. All my target deadlines gone.

Seems like I’m going to finish this last mix in about eight hours in total, 4 to 8 being the goal. it does feel epic but maybe it’s okay and the mixing process is fine now. How long does it take you to mix a 3-min tune?
I don’t think people realize just how much work writing and producing one 2-3 min song is 😬
When a production is taking forever but it’s getting better all the time so you know you’re not wasting time on perfectionism but you still wonder why does it have to take so long. Respect to all producers tbh 👏
Live the dream love the music
Current AI plugins operate at the signal level.
What musicians actually want is semantic music understanding:
• tension curves
• stylistic lineage
• expressive phrasing models
• arrangement dramaturgy
That layer barely exists yet.
Until AI sorts out this horrible aliased top end, I can’t see much use for it. I remain open minded about it, but I’ve not had any luck using AI in music making so far. I’ll keep trying but regular production seems a lot quicker and better overall, for now
When you finish a tune you’re sick of it but when you release it a few months later you hear it for the first time and it rocks harder than ever: you know you’ve done a good job
Dedicated to all digital thieves, this electro jam came out today - enjoy

Doesn’t matter how many tunes you’ve finished and released, the first few sessions on each new project are full of uncertainty.
New tune and production very close to done in just two days / few hours of work. Here’s hoping to finish a lot more tunes this year 🍷
I can hear the difference between different clipping plug ins but can’t explain it…

Today I listened to this great album - did you listen to an album today?
What’s a good thing you learned or experienced on social media today?
Modal interchange / borrowed chords are the soul of a song. Borrow one chord and you’ll take your tune to a whole new level.
I think I found my genre:
“Oblique Pop”
What do you reckon?
The time a production takes changes drastically according to how generic it is or how much investigation goes into it. No such thing as a standard here
The more you dedicate your time to listening to music with full attention, the higher your quality of life
Hugh Jones’ production work in the 80s is so good I made a Spotify playlist for it, check it out - it’s all great but specially the stuff he did with Fiat Lux

Mocking pop music for being lighthearted is like mocking Modigliani for his light textures.
If you’re learning, you’re happy.
I couldn’t agree more. Most of my work currently is focused on refining my workflow; it’s slow progress but clear progress too, totally worth it
