Nursing doesn’t sort “scholarship” vs “service” neutrally. That line is gendered, and it decides whose work gets resourced, promoted, and archived as knowledge.
I wrote about it on my Substack.

I wrote a piece about milestones, reflection, and why identity and profession are never truly separate. If you’re a queer clinician, an educator, or just someone thinking about how your own timelines "fold," I’d love for you to read it.

Coming out was an act of necessity; nursing was an act of responsibility. Both require navigating marginalization and advocating within "strained" systems. My identity didn't just happen alongside my career, it informed my clinical practice and my equity-centered teaching.

Thirty years out. Twenty years in. 🏳️🌈🩺
In 2026, I’m looking back at the 14-year-old who came out and the 24-year-old who started nursing. At 44, teaching the next generation, I finally see the thread that connects them both: Courage as a practice.

Omg… yes. I went to their other one a few weeks ago. 👀
This is why many nurses don’t trust ANA to speak for the profession.
Teaching nurses about AI isn’t the same as giving us real influence over adoption. When ANA partners upstream with vendors, those choices are no longer neutral.
Nurses notice.

There is a disconnect in America today: Trump is deeply unpopular facing mass resistance from citizens. But elites keep rolling over for Trump anyway.
What to do? An organized boycott campaign.
Here's how it would work, and why it could very well change elite behavior www.vox.com/politics/466...

“The Undervalued Clinical Nurse Specialist Role”
This piece lifts up the CNS as a solution hiding in plain sight; an APN role rooted in evidence, system thinking, and mentorship.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.
If I were starting a civil war, I would send National Guard troops from one state to another.
Excited to see this piece I wrote for @us.theconversation.com get a new life!
LOVE Tea and Sympathy — a must stop every time I’m in the city.
Canceling Jimmy Kimmel show is not about Charlie Kirk, just like going after universities was not about antisemitism and occupying DC was not about fighting crime.
UC nurses are joining faculty workers to sue the Trump administration and stop its illegal attack on gender-affirming care and ICE deportations at our universities and hospitals.
This lawsuit is about protecting our patients’ rights and standing up for care, not cruelty.
We are live now from San Francisco announcing our lawsuit bringing together a broad coalition of labor unions to stop the Trump administration’s attempt to unlawfully stifle free speech within the University System of California.

The Dept. of Justice has removed a study showing that white supremacist and far-right violence “continues to outpace all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremism” in the U.S.
Update on this story: As many of us feared, it turns out that Berkeley wasn't the only UC to release personal info on its pro-palestine anti-genocide professors to the justice department, it looks they they all did. Berkeley was just the only one to tell profs they did it.

Will only test for salmonella and Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). Stopped tests: 6 additional pathogens: campylobacter, cyclospora, listeria, shigella, vibrio and Yersinia.
We know how Trump, Republicans and Jillian Michaels feel about museums, history & slavery.
But what do historians, scholars & educators think about what this administration is doing
